I am using Thunderbird email application. But it faces lack of versatility in client management. I found ‘business contact manager’ very useful which is available in MS Outlook.

That’s why; I am interested to move towards MS Outlook with existing emails. Can anyone help?

Yes! User can move from Thunderbird to Outlook 2010 efficiently. But, there is obligation of file format conversion. Actually, Thunderbird uses an MBOX file format which can’t import directly into MS Outlook. So, you should convert MBOX files of Thunderbird into MS Outlook PST files. After importing PST file into MS Outlook 2007, User would be able to access old emails of the thunderbird into MS Outlook.

If you have an IMAP mail account in Thunderbird, then all your emails are held on the server, in which case you could create an imap mail account in Outlook to view the same emails.

Access the Profile, copy the files required to a folder outside of Thunderbird and then use a converter to convert mbox to pst. All emails stored in the Thunderbird Profile folder name mail account, are stored in mbox files. They do not have an extension, so Inbox is a file called Inbox. Inbox.msf is only an indexing file. This will be located here; C:\Users\Windows user name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Profile name\ Mail\mail account name

The AppData folder is folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders". In Thunderbird Help > TRoubleshooting Information click on 'Show folder' Close Thunderbird before copy/pasting any files.

Alternatively: You could also use ImportExportTools addon to export emails in eg: .eml, html, plain text, pdf etc https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/ You could also export the folder as mbox file, but then you would need to convert to pst file.
