Reset bookmarks to default?
I did a fresh install of Firefox (28), as the last version I used (7) became problematic from a bad extension. I imported bookmarks from a .json backup without thinking, and now realize I'd rather have a clean slate and just refer to the html backup as needed. It's been awhile since I've used firefox, there used to be an option in Safe Mode where I could reset my bookmarks to the default state, but I can't seem to find this.
How can I reset bookmarks to the default?
Chosen solution
You can delete the places.sqlite file to reset the bookmarks and the history (including the download history). You will have to remove the JSON backups (.json and .jsonlz4) in the bookmarkbackups folder as well because otherwise Firefox would rebuild the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup. You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Thanks, that did the trick. :)
