How to stop opening the Calendar in the background?

When switching between open apps (by holding the Home button), I often notice that the Calendar app is open, although I never manually opened it.

Is this intended?

If yes, how can I change/stop it? If not, how/why might this happen? Maybe I’m using a "hidden" way to open the Calendar without noticing it?

Hi keal, I have noticed you have great questions, thank you. The app will close if you hit the x in the view when you soft hit the home button. It will not close automatically. However this may depend on the version of the device you have.

In order to stop calendar from running in the back ground, you can click on the options in the calendar app, then click on the gear. There will be a sync frequency that you can set to manual. Check if that helps.

Cheers.
