Under:

Edit | Account Settings | (account) | Copies & Folders | "When sending messages, automatically:"

there is an option to "Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to".

I would like a way to do exactly this, except not just with replies, but with new email that I am composing/sending. This seems only natural.

Suppose, for example, that I have several clients, and a folder for each client. When I am replying to my clients, the replies go into the appropriate client folders. Perfect. But when I'm writing a new email to a client, doesn't it make sense to also put that message in the respective client's folder? Instead, all my sent mail is going to my Sent folder, and I have to remember to fish them out and drag them into the respective client folders. This is a nuisance.

Hopefully this is already a feature. If not, consider this a feature request.

Beautiful. Works as advertised. Thank you for pointing it out to me. Unfortunate that a basic subset of this extension's behaviour doesn't ship with Thunderbird out of the box, though.
