Why can't I add a mail account from my own server?

Hi,

I got my ZTE Open C yesterday and added a GMail account no problem. However when I tried to add the mail account from my own server then it will not add this. I have tried every option I can think of. This is a doddle on Android and iOS, even on WinPhone (which I just swapped for Open C) I would have thought that this is a huge oversight, as most of the people using this OS are likely to be techies, and will have their own server.

Mine has a number of users on it for my business, and this is really frustrating, and if not fixable will mean both me and my head of development both having to ditch our Firefox OS phones, which will be a real shame.

Please help.

(Unfortunately, I do not have a Firefox OS device to work with hands on.)

Is the problem that your account or server type is not supported at all by Manual Setup, or that you get errors during the process of verifying the account, or ??

Are there any logs on the server side that might shed light on the failure?

Thanks for the reply. Its appreciated.

Unfortunately the error.log only seems to show HTML request errors, and there does not appear to be a separate mail error log at this point. I am on a vhost (using parallels Plesk as the GUI) . I will have another look and see if I can enable mail logging.

However given the Mozilla ethos I still find it staggering that this was not included.

Cheers

I'm not sure what you're referring to that wasn't included...

Does your server use a self-signed certificate? In that case, see whether this old thread is helpful: Install a personal CA into Firefox OS or use self signed certificates.

This may be an SSL issue that is currently being worked on.

Not included may have been the wrong way of putting it, perhaps overlooked would have been more accurate. As I have said given the target audience for a quite a high proportion of these devices.

I hope they get a fix for this shortly. Currently I have resorted to using GMail to fetch my mail and using the ZTE to read GMail.

Thanks for the pointer on the SSL issue. Fingers crossed they get a fix shortly.
