Hi isaac157, Thank you for your question. Since the Android device is not syncing, can I please check the following steps were already taken:
- Did you remove the Android Device Firefox Sync(deprecated) from the accounts list?
- Have you set up the new version of sync? Sync your Firefox bookmarks, history, passwords and more
I am happy to troubleshoot further if the sync is not complete after verifying the set up is correct. Please post back, as it will also help other users. :-)
I have this problem too. As the original post says, both Windows and Android are on latest Firefox. Android was actually uninstalled and reinstalled since there is no way to change the sync account once it is enabled. I also deleted my sync account on Windows and added it back again, so everything should be on the "new" sync. I realize that passwords no longer sync (I will NOT remove the master password, especially on a mobile device.) But I think the bookmarks should sync, and that is what I need most. One of the posts had someone say to "enable logging" for sync, but did not give specifics. When I search for "log" in "about:config" on Windows, there are dozens of hits, most of which obviously have nothing to do with this. There were a couple entries which I thought might pertain: "services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnError" and services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess". The first was already set to "true" so I set the other to "true" also. However, I do not see anything new in "about:sync-log" after doing that, even after modifying a bookmark. (The poster said to look at "about:sync-logs" but that results in an error.) This is really a problem for me, because the alternative, exporting and importing bookmarks, does not seem to be an option on Android.

More info... When I deleted and created a new sync account, I used the same email address. I tried this again, but with a different email address, and I found that FF on Windows was still connected to the old account. I still had to disconnect from the old account and connect to the new one. I had already uninstalled FF on Android when I did that (since there is no way to disconnect sync and connect to a different account on Android). Now I am sure that neither platform is in any way connected to the "old" sync. But it still doesn't work after reinstalling FF on Android and setting up the new account. Moreover, the problem appears to be mainly on the Android side, because whenever I look at the sync settings, I still see the screen saying "Account verified...Your data will begin syncing momentarily". Despite saying "momentarily", this is a permanent condition from the appearance of it.
Hi creigsmith, This question is a bit different and I recommend starting a new thread next time, however the sync options on the device can be stopped or started from the accounts menu on the Android device.
If you have selected the option in android to only sync when..... then you would have to go to the list of accounts, click on the New Firefox Sync account and tap sync. (I am pretty sure, but try that and post back :-))
Today, sync on my Android started working (without me doing anything more than opening FF) The lag in updating is only a minute or two, so that is acceptable.
There is no "only sync when..." option in the Android Settings:Accounts:Firefox, nor in Firefox:Settings:Sync. Firefox on Android does have a Settings:download updates:only-over-WiFi setting (would that affect sync?), but in any case, it was always set to only over WiFi. I have been on WiFi the most of the time, but of course there are momentary lapses. Maybe the sync kicked in one of the times that WiFi reconnected?
I previously did open a separate question somewhere, but I cannot find my way around this forum to locate it again, and I didn't get any confirmation emails. It sure seemed like the same problem to me, so I thought it didn't need a separate entry.
Hi all
Since there are no replies from isaac157 and creigsmith appears to have got sync working i am locking this thread
If you encounter further problems please create a new question.
Cheers!
