What happened to my colorway?

On February 8, we will expire the 18 colorway themes of Firefox version 94. This signals the end of a special, limited-time feature set. However, you can keep your favorite colorway forever, as long as you’re using it on the expiration date. In other words, if a colorway is “enabled” in the add-ons manager (accessed by typing about:addons into the URL bar), that colorway is yours forever.

Once the 94 colorway collection expires, you’ll notice some changes in the add-ons manager. The Colorways section will no longer appear, and your active, enabled colorway will persist in the “Enabled” section amongst other system and third-party themes.

New Firefox 97 colorways

On February 8, we will release 6 brand-new colorways in a special partner collaboration. You’ll have access to these with Firefox version 97. If you’re already a Firefox user, you’ll need to make sure you upgrade to the latest version. For existing users, this collection will be available in the add-ons manager (again, just type about:addons into the URL bar), within the Colorways section.

What if I don’t upgrade to Firefox version 97 on February 8?

You won’t have access to the 97 colorway collection until you upgrade. Regardless of version (version 94 and beyond), you will continue to have access to the 94 colorway you have actively enabled at midnight on February 8.

Will I still keep my Fx94 colorway once I upgrade to Fx97?

Yes. When you upgrade to Firefox version 97, you maintain access to the Firefox 94 colorway that you had enabled on February 8, and you get access to all 6 new colorways. Your 94 colorway and the 97 collection will all be available within the add-ons manager.
