The Firefox Marketplace is the best place where you can connect to the web to find, try and download apps and content that matter to you. It is an open and non-proprietary online marketplace for web applications built using HTML5 that enables developers to create cross-platform applications using standard web technology, languages, and tools.

The Firefox Marketplace provides web applications that behave just like native applications and can be used across multiple platforms and devices. The Marketplace design also makes finding your favorite apps and discovering new apps easy.

What devices are supported?

The Firefox Marketplace is accessed using Firefox Beta for Android on supported phones and 7" devices. Tablets larger than 7" are not yet supported. See Will Firefox work on my mobile device? for the complete list of supported phones.

If you are a developer, it is possible to install applications on desktop Firefox for testing purposes using a bookmarklet. To find out more, consult the developer documentation on the Mozilla Developer Network or Firefox Marketplace Developer Hub.

What is an app?

An App is a piece of software that you can download to your phone and run locally. The apps downloaded from the Firefox Marketplace will work on your phone the same way any other app on your phone works such as the calendar or browser. The apps from the marketplace, however, may be installed and uninstalled.

Can I use an application on any device? Or on multiple devices?

You can download the Firefox Apps to any of your Firefox OS or Android phones. Simply go to the Marketplace app and start downloading your favorite apps. If you don’t yet have the Firefox Marketplace app on your Android device, you can learn how to install it by visiting How to access the Firefox Marketplace.

What happens when I download an app from the Firefox Marketplace?

When you download an app, an icon will be installed on your homescreen just like any other app. You'll be able to launch the app with a touch of your finger and navigate as you would with any other app. There is no need to go back into the browser or the Firefox Marketplace to access or use an app once it has been downloaded.
