This article describes how to use Google calendars together with Lightning. You can use Google calendars in two ways. You can have read-only access to public calendars or you can use a bi-directional calendar, with both read and write-access.
Read access
If you only need read-access to a Google calendar, you can use the link of the public ICS file which is provided by Google, as indicated on this Google Help article: View from other applications
Read and write access
Creating your calendar URL
Your calendar URL is in the following format:
https://apidata.googleusercontent.com/caldav/v2/your-email-address/events
Replace your-email-address with your actual GMail address and then copy the text into your clipboard.
Importing your calendar into Lightning
To import your calendar into Lightning, please follow these steps:
- Switch to the Calendar tab of Lightning by clicking on the button in the top-right of the Thunderbird window.
- Right-click on the white space in the calendar pane at the left of the Thunderbird window. Click .
- Choose On the Network in the wizard that opened and then click .
- Select CalDAV for the Format. Paste the URL you copied before into the Location field and then click .
- Choose the GMail address you specified before for the Email dropdown. You can also select a name and a colour for the Google Calendar if you wish. When you are done, click to continue.
- Click to start using your Google calendar.
