You can connect Thunderbird with Google Calendar following these steps:

  1. Open the Calendar tab in Thunderbird (CTRL + 3)
  2. From the bottom of the left sidebar, click "New calendar"
  3. From the prompt asking where to store the calendar, choose "On the network"
  4. Type in the your email address (Gmail or Google Workspace) as the username, Thunderbird will recognize it as a Google Calendar address automatically
  5. Complete the Google sign in process that appears in another window
  6. Select the calendars you want to add to Thunderbird
  7. Complete the process by clicking "Subscribe" from the create calendar window
