When you set Firefox as your default browser on Windows, you can also configure it to handle mail links using your preferred email website. This guide explains how to set Firefox as the default handler for mail links and configure a mail site to open automatically when you click mail-to links.

Set Firefox as the default handler for mail links

Starting in Firefox version 129, you can set Firefox as the default application that handles mail links:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu Windows10StartButton and select Settings.
    System settings
  2. From your systems settings menu, click Apps setting option.
  3. Select Default apps.

You can also go to Settings -> Apps -> Default Apps and enter MAILTO in the search box to find the application already set as the default, for example, Thunderbird. When you click on the entry that comes up, you can set a new default.
