If the menu bar is missing, it is usually because it has been hidden by an extension or by another program on your computer, or the file storing your toolbar information has become corruptFirefox is in full screen mode or not the selected application.
- If other toolbars or buttons are missing, see Navigation buttons like back, home, bookmarks and reload are missing.
Mac OS X
If Firefox is in full screen mode, move the pointer to the top of the screen, and click on the Full Screen icon to restore the Firefox menu to normal size and show the menu bar.
If Firefox is not in Full Screen mode, the menu bar will be visible. The menu bar always includes the Apple icon and the name of the current program. To see the Firefox menu bar, click inside any Firefox window.
Hidden by a Firefox extension or by another program
Extensions or other programs on your computer may hide the menu bar, you can show it again using the mouse and keyboard.
- Press Alt on the keyboard and release. The menu bar will appear temporarily.
- On the menu bar, click
, go to , then select which toolbars you want to see.
Corrupt toolbars and controls
If the file storing your toolbar information has become corrupt, use Firefox's Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to reset toolbars and controls.
- Press Alt on the keyboard and release. The menu bar will appear temporarily.
Click the menu button , click , select and click in the Restart Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode? dialog.
