Firefox lets you easily import bookmarks and other data from Google Chrome. This article gives you step-by-step instructions for getting it done.

Note: To import your information from another browser or computer, see Import data from another browser.

Import data from Library

  1. Click the menu button Menu button 1 to open the menu panel. Click Bookmarks and then click the Manage Bookmarks bar at the bottom.

  2. From the toolbar in the Library window, click import-export-arrows and choose Import Data from Another Browser...
    Tip: Another way to import from another browser is to click File in the Firefox Menu bar at the top of the screen and select Import from Another Browser….
  3. In the Import Wizard window that appears, select the Chrome profile you wish to import the data from and click Import.

  4. The import will start. You may be prompted to add your system password to proceed.

  5. All set! Click Done to wrap up the import.
    The import process will transfer the following data from Chrome to Firefox:
    • Browsing History: Information on the sites you have visited.
    • Saved Form history: Information you use to populate online forms.
    • Saved Logins and Passwords: Your usernames and passwords that Chrome remembered.
    • Bookmarks: Web pages you have saved in your Chrome bookmarks.

Because Chrome defaults to saving bookmarks in its bookmarks toolbar, you should be able to find your imported bookmarks in a folder named From Google Chrome in the Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar. The Bookmarks Toolbar may be hidden. To show the Bookmarks Toolbar:

  1. Click the menu Menu button 1 button, click More Tools… and choose Customize Toolbar….
  2. Click the Toolbars dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen and select Bookmarks Toolbar.

    The Bookmarks Toolbar can be set to Always Show, Never Show, or Only Show on New Tab.
  3. Click Done.
Tip: You can also turn the Bookmarks toolbar on or off from the Firefox menu bar at the top of the screen: Click View, go down to Toolbars and select Bookmarks Toolbar.

Import data from Firefox Settings

Starting in Firefox version 113, you can also import your data from Firefox settings:

  1. Click the menu Menu button 1 button at the top right.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the General panel to the left, click on Import Data under the Import browser data section.

  4. In the Import Wizard window that appears, select the Chrome profile you wish to import the data from.

  5. To choose the data you want to import, click on the + button. Once you've made your selection, click on Import to kick off the import process.

    Note:The Payment methods option enables you to import payment methods saved in Chrome to Firefox.
  6. All set! Click Done to wrap up the import.
    The import process will transfer the following data from Chrome to Firefox:
    • Browsing History: Information on the sites you have visited.
    • Saved Form history: Information you use to populate online forms.
    • Saved Logins and Passwords: Your usernames and passwords that Chrome remembered.
    • Bookmarks: Web pages you have saved in your Chrome bookmarks.
