What do the different channels mean?
- Release: Enjoy the tried and tested final release being used by hundreds of millions around the world.
- Beta: Experience cutting edge features but with more stability. Provide feedback to help refine and polish what will be in the final release.
- Aurora: Experience the newest innovations in an unstable environment that’s not for the faint of heart. Provide feedback on features and performance to help determine what makes the final release.
Switching channels
- At the top of the Firefox window, click the
For Windows XP: At the top of the Firefox window, click the menu and select . button, go over to the menu and select to open the About Firefox window.On the menu bar, click the menu and select to open the About Firefox window.At the top of the Firefox window, click the menu and select to open the About Firefox window. - In the About Firefox window, click the Change link.
- Click the drop-down menu to select the Release, Beta or Aurora channel.
- Click to make the change. Firefox will download the latest updates for your chosen channel and then restart.
Note: You will use the same profile no matter what channel you are on so you will always have access to your bookmarks, history, passwords and other personal data.
Note: Some Add-ons may not be compatible with Firefox Beta or Aurora.
