This article shows you how to change your default Web browser to Firefox.

This article applies only to Windows 10.

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and then select Preferences or Settings, depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. In the General panel, you will find the default browser setting in the Startup section at the top of the page.

  3. Click the Make Default… button. Firefox will do everything in the background.
Note: If Firefox is already your default browser, the Make Default… button will be missing and it will say that Firefox is currently your default browser.

After clicking the Make Default... button, some users may be prompted to set Firefox as default from the Windows Settings app with the Default apps panel already open for them: Windows10SettingsAppL

  1. Scroll down to the Web browser section and click on the browser that is currently listed.

  2. In the Choose an app panel, click on Firefox to set it as the default browser.

  3. Go back to the Web browser section and you will see that Windows 10 has Firefox set as the default browser.

  4. Go back to the Firefox General panel, which will still be open. Firefox will show that it is your default browser.
