Hello,

Before you turn off the automatic update function of Firefox please note:

Important: Turning off Firefox automatic updates is not recommended. Only the latest version of Firefox gets regular security updates and will keep you safe on the Internet.

However, if you really need to turn off the automatic update of Firefox, please follow these steps:

In Firefox 55 and below:

  1. Click the Firefox new-fx-menu-button menu button at the top-right corner.
  2. Select the Options menu item (Preferences on Mac or Linux). A new tab will open.
  3. On the left side, click on Advanced.
  4. At the top of the Advanced panel, Click the Update tab.
  5. Under Firefox Updates, select Never check for updates (not recommended - security risk).
  6. Close the Options (or Preferences) tab. Your new settings will be saved.

Starting in Firefox 56 do the following:

  1. Click the Firefox new-fx-menu-button menu button at the top-right corner.
  2. Select the Options menu item (Preferences on Mac or Linux). A new tab will open.
  3. In the General panel, scroll down to the Firefox Updates section.
  4. Under Firefox Updates, select Never check for updates (not recommended).
  5. Close the Options (or Preferences) tab. Your new settings will be saved.

Please report back if this helped you.
