Firefox recently tried to update to the latest version, but something went wrong. Since you are using an old version of Firefox, we strongly recommend manually upgrading to the latest version to keep your information safe and secure. This article shows you how.

Download and install Firefox manually

While Firefox can be set to update itself automatically, you can also download and install Firefox from scratch if the updates fail.

  1. Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the Firefox download page.
  2. Locate the downloaded file (Tip: open its destination folder through the Download Manager).
  3. Close Firefox, then double-click on the file and follow the prompts to upgrade to the new Firefox.
  4. The newer version of Firefox will launch automatically and replace the old version. If you have the old version open, close it, then relaunch Firefox.
Firefox automatically transfers your bookmarks, history and site preferences to the new version. No need to import and export your information.
