Firefox is having trouble updating to the latest version. Since you are using an old version of Firefox, we recommend manually upgrading to the latest version to keep your information safe and secure. This article shows you how.

Download and install Firefox manually

While Firefox can be set to update itself automatically, you can also download and install Firefox from scratch if the updates fail.

  1. Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the Firefox download page.
  2. Once the download has completed, if you have the old version of Firefox open, close it.
  3. Then, double-click on the downloaded file and follow the prompts to upgrade to the new Firefox.
  4. The newer version of Firefox will launch automatically and replace the old version.
Firefox automatically transfers your bookmarks, history and site preferences to the new version. No need to import and export your information.
