The unified extensions button introduced in Firefox 109 lets users quickly remove, report and manage extensions and their permissions directly from the toolbar. The extensions you've installed will appear in the unified extensions panel. If an extension doesn't appear in the panel, it may already be pinned to the toolbar. To learn how to customize the extensions in your toolbar, visit Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

Click the jigsaw puzzle icon in the toolbar to open the unified extensions panel:

Permission notifications

After installing an extension, if you navigate to a website that requires permissions for the extension to work, the unified extensions button will display a notification dot. If the extension is already pinned in the toolbar, the notification dot will appear below the extension icon.

When the extension needs access to the current page, a notification dot also appears under the extension icon in the panel:
extensionsNotificationDot

When the extension already has access (or does not need any) and it opens a panel as part of its functionality, this panel is anchored to the unified extensions button:
unifiedExtensionsRelay

Manage extensions permissions

  1. Click the unified extensions button in the toolbar.
  2. Locate the extension with the green notification dot in the panel.

Manage extension settings

All extensions in the panel have a menu button with a gear icon. When the extension is not asking for permissions on a website, you can use the menu button to manage your extensions. The following options are available:

  • Pin to Toolbar: pins the extension to the Firefox toolbar.
  • Manage Extension: opens the Add-ons Manager where you can manage other extension settings. Click Manage extensions at the bottom to access the settings for all your extensions.
  • Remove Extension: uninstalls the extension from Firefox.
  • Report Extension: reports the extension to Mozilla.

Common questions

Why is the panel not shown when I click the unified extensions button?

Only extensions that are enabled will appear in the unified extensions panel.

My extension is enabled and doesn’t appear in the extensions panel – What can I do?

If your extension is already pinned to the toolbar, it will not appear in the extensions panel.

I clicked an extension from the panel but nothing happens – What can I do?

This may happen because some extensions detect a browser action and do nothing. However, this may also be caused by a bug in the extension. To report this, you’ll need to contact the extension developer directly through the page you installed the extension from at addons.mozilla.org.
