Tracking protection allows you to take control of your privacy online. While Firefox has a Do Not Track feature that tells websites not to monitor your behavior, companies are not required to honor it. Firefox's Tracking Protection feature puts the control back in your hands by actively blocking domains and sites that are known to track users.
What is Tracking?
Tracking is the ability of a website to keep tabs on a user's activity using special software tools. Websites store information about your Internet activity into files called cookies. Many websites use cookies as a way to keep stats on your browsing history so they can target you with behavioral advertising.
Firefox prevents companies from collecting your information without your consent by blocking websites that do not honor Do Not Track.
How to use Tracking Protection on Firefox for Android
To turn on do not track for Firefox on Android:
- Swipe left and tap on browser tools (either at the bottom right on some devices or in the upper right of the browser) and then (you may need to tap first) .
- Next tap , then choose "Tell websites not to track me". This is where you can turn the do not track feature on.
The Do-not-track feature is turned off by default.
Tracking Protection will turn on the Do Not Track feature and prevent websites from loading content that tracks you.
