Tracking generally refers to the collection of a person’s browsing data across multiple sites. Firefox for Android’s Enhanced Tracking Protection feature uses a list provided by Disconnect to identify and block trackers.
Enhanced Tracking Protection is enabled by default. When you visit a web page with trackers, a shield icon will appear in the address bar to let you know that Firefox is actively blocking trackers on that page.
Tracking Protection in Private Browsing
When you open a Private Tab on Firefox for Android, Enhanced Tracking Protection is enabled by default.
When you visit a web page with trackers, a shield icon will appear in the address bar to let you know that Firefox is actively blocking trackers on that page.
Disable Tracking Protection on a specific page
If you are on a website and you want to view the page with tracking enabled, you can disable Enhanced Tracking Protection by following these steps:
- Tap the shield icon
on the address bar to see the Control center.
- Tap to turn Enhanced Tracking Protection off.
- A line will appear across the shield
when Enhanced Tracking Protection has been deactivated.
To re-enable Enhanced Tracking Protection, repeat the steps above to open the Control Center and tap

Enhanced Tracking Protection is enabled by default, but you can enable it all the time or disable it for all pages.

- Enabled: Turns on Tracking Protection for all tabs.
