To use this new feature, please update Firefox if you don't have the latest version.

Search shortcuts let you perform a search on your address bar without having to click on a search icon or visiting its page. You can do this by typing in @[shortcut]+[keywords] into your search bar:

Popular search shortcuts will appear on your new tab page as a tile with a magnifying glass. Clicking on these tiles then typing in a search will automatically put the @[shortcut]+[keywords] in to your address bar.

Assign search shortcuts

You can assign search shortcuts to your favorite search engines:

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (select Preferences on older macOS versions).Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click Search on the left panel.
  3. Scroll down to One-Click Search Engines.
  4. Click on the Keyword column for the search engine you want to assign a shortcut to.
  5. Enter @ followed by your search shortcut. For example: @ddg for DuckDuckGo.
