Keep up with friends, see the stories people are talking about and more by adding social features from various websites, like Facebook, right into Firefox. This article will get you started.

The template "ApplyToFx" does not exist or has no approved revision.

Add social features to Firefox

Each social network has its own page with information about the features it adds and a button to turn them on.

  1. Visit one of these websites:
  2. Click the Turn On or Activate button on the page. A sidebar will open and a confirmation message will be shown.
  3. Click OK in the confirmation message to turn it on.
Note: Some services, like Facebook, require you to be logged into the website in order for it to work properly.

Turn social features off and back on again

Got to get some work done? Here's how to temporarily turn things off.

  • To turn a service off, click its button (Facebook Messenger, msnNOW, etc.) in the toolbar and select Turn off.

    Turn a service off

To turn a service back on:

  • Click the Service button and select Turn on.

Switch services

If you have more than one service installed, you can easily switch between them.

  • Click the Service button and select the name of the other service you'd like to use.

Disable or remove a service

If necessary, you can disable or remove a service from Firefox.

  1. Click the Service button in the toolbar and select Manage Services…. This will open the Services tab of the Add-ons Manager.

    Manage Services
  2. In the Services tab, click the Disable or Remove button next to a service.
Note: If you remove a service and then later want to use it again, you will have to re-add it to Firefox.

Having trouble? Here are some things you can try

If you see a message in the sidebar that Firefox can't connect with a service:

  • Click the Try Again button.

    Try Again

If that doesn't work, you may just have to wait a bit for it to become available again.

Tip: You can also try removing and then re-adding a service.
