The Firefox OS contacts app lets you import friends from your SIM card, Facebook and popular email services. It also makes it easy to call or message your favorite people. Let's get started!

Import contacts

What good is a smartphone without contacts?

  1. Open the Contacts app contacts app.
  2. Tap the gear button in the upper-right corner to begin the import process.
    • Firefox OS 1.0.1 allows you to import from a SIM card or Facebook.
    • Firefox OS 1.1 adds the ability to import from a Gmail, Outlook (and Hotmail) and an SD card.

  3. Choose what contacts you want to import.

    • Choosing Facebook, Gmail or Outlook will direct you to a login screen for that service.
    • After you log in, you will see a screen where you can choose which contacts to import. When you've selected everyone you want, tap the Import button in the upper-right corner.

  4. Once your contacts have been imported you will be taken to a list of all your contacts.

Update or import more contacts

After importing contacts the first time, you may want to update or add new contacts from Facebook, Gmail or Outlook.

  1. Tap the gear button in the upper-right corner.
  2. Choose where you want to import from:
    • To update or import more contacts from Gmail or Outlook, choose them from the list.
      • You may have to log in to each service again.
    • To update or import more contacts from Facebook, tap the Update imported friends button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Add any new contacts you with to import and then tap the Update button in the upper-right. New contacts will be added and existing contacts will be updated.

Add a contact from another app

Easily add new contacts from phone calls, messages or email.

  • In the Messages app, tap the number in the orange bar at the top of the screen to create a new contact or to add that number to an existing contact.
  • In the Email app, tap on an email address in a message to create a new contact or to add that email address to an existing contact.
  • In the Phone app, tap a number in the call log to create a new contact or to add that number to an existing contact.

Note: This feature is available in Firefox OS version 1.1 and higher. Not sure what version of Firefox OS you have? Here's how to find out.

Add a new contact manually

Of course you can always add contacts the old-fashioned way.

  1. Tap the plus button, next to settings to get to the add contact screen.

  2. Enter a name, number, photo, etc.
  3. To save your new contact, tap the Done button in the top right.

If you've added a contact and they are also a friend on Facebook, you can link that contact to their Facebook info.

  1. Select the contact you want to link.
  2. Tap the Link contact button.
  3. A list of possible Facebook friend matches will be found. Just tap on the correct one and it will be linked.

Call or message a contact

When you select someone in your list, you can choose from a number of ways to contact them:

  • Phone
  • Email
  • Message

If the contact is linked to Facebook, you have additional options:

  • Facebook message
  • Facebook Wall post
  • View Facebook profile

Tip: Make a contact a "Favorite" and it will be shown at the top of your contacts list.

Delete a contact

  1. Tap the contact you want to delete.
  2. Tap the edit contact button in the upper-right edit contact.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Contact and then Remove.
