In Firefox version 57 and above, only extensions built using WebExtensions APIs will work. See Firefox add-on technology is modernizing and these Frequently Asked Questions for details.

The Mozilla Add-ons site is using Firefox Accounts for a more integrated experience across all Mozilla products and services (see this Mozilla blog for the background). Use your existing Firefox Account or create a new one to access your add-ons on https://addons.mozilla.org.

Upgrade from an Add-ons account to a Firefox Account

If you have an existing Add-ons account, you can upgrade to Firefox Accounts by logging in or registering with a Firefox Account that matches your Add-ons email address.

You can find instructions for logging in or registering below.

Log in to an existing account

If you already have a Firefox Account, you can sign in to the Add-ons site.

  1. Go to the add-ons site.
  2. Click Log in.
  3. Enter your email address and password, then click Sign in.
  4. You will be redirected back to https://addons.mozilla.org.

Create a new account

If you’ve never had an Add-ons account or a Firefox Account, sign up for Firefox Accounts to get started with the Add-ons site.

  1. Go to the add-ons site.
  2. Click Register.
  3. Enter your email address, password and age, then click Create account.
  4. In another tab, click the verification link in your email.
  5. You will be notified that you are ready to use Add-ons, you can now close this tab.
  6. Return to the tab you created your Firefox Account with.
  7. You will be redirected back to https://addons.mozilla.org.

For more information, see Access Mozilla Services with a Firefox Account.

Deleting your Firefox Account

Please see this article to learn how to delete your Firefox Account.

When you delete your Firefox Account, your addons.mozilla.org account will also be deleted and all of its associated data is deleted with it. If you later create a new account using the same email address, no add-ons will be associated with it.

Before deleting your account, we recommend that you transfer any add-ons you have developed to a new owner. If you share add-on ownership with other accounts, your account will be removed from the ownership list once it has been deleted.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to my add-ons when I convert to a new Firefox Account?

You will have access to all your add-ons through your new Firefox Account.

Why do I want a Firefox Account?

A Firefox Account is the primary account system used by Firefox, most often used natively to synchronize Firefox services across multiple devices. Even if you don’t use Sync, many Firefox-related services will soon begin migrating over to simplify your sign in process, making it easier for you to join new services.

Where do I change my password?

Once you have a Firefox Account, you can go to https://accounts.firefox.com, sign in and click Change next to Password.
