Solved: No Aspect of File Interface works Ubuntu 22.04

I am running Ubuntu 22.04, this is on Firefox 106.0, though it didn't work last update either. Thanks for any help Edit: I have been googling for answers but after posting this question a similar thread popped up, the solution is to install the following packages: xdg-desktop-portal xdg-desktop-portal-gtk

[SOLVED] cannot save page/file to local drive

Actually there is no way to save a pdf file but setting PDF app to "Ask always" and then open it with "System handler", but then the file is saved into the default download folder, even though I selected the checkbox "Always ask me where to save files" in my settings. EDIT: the issue was solved by installing the following packages, as shown in [https://askubuntu.com/questions/1404941/no-file-save-dialog-for-snap-applications this question] : ''xdg-desktop-portal'' ''xdg-desktop-portal-gtk''

Firefox wont open file browser via websites

You should install or reinstall one of the packages xdg-desktop-portal* List them on Ubuntu with: ```apt list | grep desktop-portal``` And try to install: ```sudo apt-get install xdg-desktop-portal-gnome``` or reinstall: ```sudo apt-get --reinstall install xdg-desktop-portal-gnome``` It seems you need to rerun DBus to apply changes, but I just restarted my PC. If xdg-desktop-portal-gnome won't help then try to install/reinstall xdg-desktop-portal-gtk and xdg-desktop-portal.

Save as not working

When trying the commands suggested in another post to install the xdg-desktop-portal packages, apt reports that: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk is '''already the newest version''' (1.14.0-1build1). xdg-desktop-portal-gtk set to manually installed. xdg-desktop-portal is '''already the newest version''' (1.14.4-1ubuntu2~22.04.1). xdg-desktop-portal set to manually installed. One workaround was to change the preferences using about:config set '''widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker''' = 0 The other thing that fixed it was sudo service dbus restart but this is almost as disruptive as rebooting as it does seem to kill the gnome session with it and practically all open applications.
