  3. We have many questions about why WhatsApp Web does not load in Firefox (though some of them are clearly spam), and many questions about updating Firefox with Linux UAs (and for some reason Fx 60/113). This may be related to the above

  5. The common reason for people posting with specific old versions of Firefox on Linux is due to their version of Linux distro being made eol in package updates support. Their only main options for updates is to install a currently support version of their Linux distro or another one or use the Firefox Linux tarballs from Mozilla as they get internal updates from Mozilla.

I would say this has nothing to do with the 32-bit Linux support being dropped as of Firefox 145.0.

I'm guessing WhatsApp Web recently made it so you need a more current version of Firefox and people are not realizing they had old versions of Firefox on Linux and Windows.

Probably not spam though the most common combination I have seen so far for Windows is Firefox 62.0 on Windows 8 and Firefox 60.0on Windows 10.

Denys can you provide examples of the questions for the whatsapp incident? We want to ensure we understand if there is a bug related to this

  8. Hi everyone,

We are most likely dealing with a massive spam attack. Currently, the related questions mention:

    • Firefox update
    • WhatsApp Web issues
    • chase.com (Chase bank) issues

    and have weird UAs.

I've deactivated a bunch of clearly spam accounts, but there are much more (as typically there's a separate account for every question). I've replied to all the related questions that haven't received answers yet, mostly with the Incomplete question common response.

PS And for contributors reading this: don't worry, we'll handle it 💫

  9. On a separate note, some users are reported that clicking at the top of the screen in a maximized window no longer clicks the tab, there seems to be an extra row of pixels there. The following Reddit reply mentions are bug and possible preference flip to address it temporarily:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1ov8tt9/firefox_145_added_an_annoying_ribbon_on_top_of_my/nohwqz5/

This may be another manifestation of bug 1993474. Does setting the pref "widget.windows.windowsappsdk.enabled" to false make this go away?

I've also seen a couple of reports about missing Menu Bar, not sure how widespread it is and if it's related.

The chase threads were mainly with Firefox 115 ESR users on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and macOS 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 OS users not being able to login though.

edit: looks like Chase is looking for Firefox 138.0 ? and later to login.

The WhatsApp web questions may potentially be legitimate as a couple accounts posted a image showing the site says it "Works with Firefox 115+" like in /questions/1546646 as that may mean Fx 116.0 and later. I have seen at least one Firefox 115esr user have a question about the WhatsApp web site.

  13. The only thing it was the same mobile screenshot in 3 different questions in Firefox Desktop Forum.

  14. Good point in that the images of "Work with Firefox 115.0+" was by a mobile user in desktop Firefox forum.

As perhaps many of these posters are not good with English (as It is most popular in countries like India, Brazil, and Indonesia), they may not realize they should post in the Android Firefox or Firefox for iOS/iPadOS forums. Since they had old desktop Firefox versions it is likely safe to say the Firefox versions they had on their phones were rather old too and perhaps WhatsApp web recently made it so users needed to use a newer version (Firefox 115.0+) which can explain the sudden large amount of threads on this.

edit: A thought occurred to me, in countries like India, Brazil, and Indonesia these could be people posting at internet cafes and such which may explain the similar old desktop Firefox versions being used in many threads.

  15. Hey folks,

We may have an issue with Full Screen Mode when a thin strip remains between the Firefox window and the screen edge:

I have asked the reporters for additional details and hope to get Bugzilla reports. If you see anything similar, please try to get as much useful info as possible and share a link to the question here.

I would also suggest moving the related questions to Browser appearance, but feel free to suggest alternatives.
