  1. I thought I would x-link for a wider audience.

    christ1 [said email updates broken?

Since about two weeks or so I haven't got any email updates for topics I posted to, primarily in the Thunderbird forum. Is anyone else seeing this?

Of course we now have no, staff sumo devs, and are likely migrating f r om this platform . See also

  2. Hi John99, I wanted to follow up on this with a thread where this happened in the last few days. I was informed to file a new bug with the new information to check to make sure that the task server that sends out the notifications has nothing wrong. So far there is nothing irregular. If you have a timestamp when it was expected we might be able to narrow down where this was happening. Unless I am mistaken, this is a reference to the most recent issue that can be investigated, or is this to add as a use case for the new platform?

  3. Hi Rachel, Thanks for the reply. I was just repeating a post from christ1 I tend not to follow by email so do not notice this issue myself.

I realise we may not be in a position to fix Sumo bugs at the moment, but this is something that is vital for a lot of our contributors and if it is an issue affecting many contributors it could have an impact on the support contributors may offer.

The lack of responses int this thread may indicate the issue only affects a minority of contributors.

  4. Hello, not a problem. I did follow up with a teammate and he reached out to christ1. I do not know the result however as users see this happening we can try to go through the basic troubleshooting first of checking the spam folder as well as posting a new post on different threads.

I absolutely agree it is vital for the user flow of answering questions, and I am happy we found someone to address it. There is someone on stand by for emergencies, but we may have to explore something as a back up as we make the transition. Are there any thoughts on this?

  5. It would surprise me if the problem was replies going in to the spam folder. That may happen but most contributors would be aware of that, and the bug would surely have been quickly closed as invalid if that was the only issue.

The bug may be intermittent or only affect certain users but I have a gut feeling it will be real and not just contributors failing to check spam folders. Sure if it was an issue reported by an end user seeking support it could just be a spam folder issue, but any regular contributors would be aware of that possibility.

I get far too many emails. On Sumo support forum instead of subscribing by email I use the forum tab

It would also be possible to subscribe on Firefox of Thinderbird. For instance

To a large extent KB articles may be followed form the dashboards.

  6. This has happened to me several times in the past. But not of late.

I got indeed contacted a while ago, however, there is no change in status since. Still no email updates for me. I'm not holding my breath though.

  8. Are people using email notifications to know what posts to return to?

If you need a self-updating view of your recently active threads, you could check out this page:

    Notes:

    • OMISSION: Post attachments (screen shots) are not linked yet.
    • BUG: On longer threads, the script to scroll the right pane to the last reply sometimes fires prematurely.
    • BUG: Occasionally the left panel doesn't paint correctly (old content is overwritten instead of pushed down). Scrolling down and back up fixes that. No idea what causes it.
    • BUG: When resuming from hibernation, update requests sent before the network connection is established may fail to terminate/repeat themselves.
    • PRIVACY: The requests to SuMo are direct to the API and not logged by my server. Your username is stored in local storage, not on the server.
