Firefox Test Pilot

  1. Hi

For those that have not seen it, Firefox Test Pilot has launched - a new way for people to try out and give feedback on experimental features that may (or may not) make it into the main pipeline builds of Firefox.

There are currently three experimental features to try out:

Activity Stream Tab Center Universal Search

All are easy to install and use. It is early days, but already I think that certainly one or two of those could be very useful. Feedback on projects can be given via the main site (linked above), but if you want to reach out to the Test Pilot team on IRC, they can be found at #testpilot.

From a SUMO perspective, I guess these are no different to add-ons in that they are not core elements, but I guess we may see one or two queries where people are using them.

  2. Thanks for starting this thread, Seburo.

We now have an article on Test Pilot here. I don't anticipate any support issues, but if they come our way, I hope the article answers most questions. We all might want to look over it better prepare ourselves.

This article will not need to be localized and it won't be linked in-product.

  3. Looks great - both the article and Test Filot itself. Only the Universal search shows two icons (one regular small favicon and one big), but I guess that's because in Nightly is the suggestions list different than in release.

  4. Here's the first problem; https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1122577 Test pilot tabs doesn't show page (only 1" square in upper left) so I can't use firefox to disable side-tab

  5. Hi

As you may have heard, there are three new Test Pilot experiments, one of which may be very useful for SUMO people.

Page Shot allows the user to take screenshots using a simple set of controls and then save them or share them.

This could be really useful when writing KB article or answering Support Forum questions.

You can find out more here.
