Addition of notification for user profiles
-
Hello SUMO Team,
I'd like to suggest to add the notification feature for SUMO User profiles. Since, I follow alot of threads and l10n articles, I get a lot of mails from SUMO which spam my mailbox. I feel like it is spamming my mailbox. If we have notification feature for the following threads and articles, then it will be better. Need suggestions on this please :)

Hi Dinesh,
you could create a special folder for the SUMO notifications in the mailbox of your mail client. I did so. There are still a lot of notification mails but they all are from SUMO only.

Hi Dinesh,
you must create a message filter. I hope your mail client has this feature. Which client do you use? Thunderbird? Create this rule:
From contains notifications@support.mozilla.org
Action:
Move Message to (your special folder)
All SUMo notifications come from "notifications@support.mozilla.org".
When you closed the edit window you can still run the new rule so all notifications you have already receive are moved to the neww folder.

Hey you could even setup an new email account or an alias specifically for Sumo work. It has been possible for a while now for users to change the registered email address themselves by editing your profile.
Use the dropdown menu from your name whilst logged in or the link /users/edit
If you use webmail you may be able to create folders and rules.

I think that's a great idea, especially given that email notifications don't always get sent.

I was thinking about implementing web push notification in SUMO. I strongly believe, there should also be a notification panel/center from where the contributor can see their notification. I will see what I can do about it.

It may be of interest to note there is already an addon for Moderators produced by Philpp, I wonder if that could be modified as one method of bringing posts to users attention. Of course that only works whilst logged in, but it may be a quick and dirty temporary improvement.

Thanks for the suggestion. i have seen this before and talk with philipp about this. Actually, the web push works differently from this add-on's method.
