Per the (unrecorded) SUMO Community Meeting today, Windows XP users may soon face some issues with installing and/or updating Firefox. Joni is working on an article. The bug for this issue can be seen here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1079858
At this time I don't have anything else to add. But this is likely to be a big issue for XP users. So keep watching this thread.
P.s. As far as I know, Firefox is the only full featured major browser which "officially" supports Windows XP. However, we do not have any schedule or plans for dropping support for Windows XP at this time.
Thanks!
Mark

Why can't serve multiple signatures (SHA-1 and SHA-2), only for XP SP2 users as per comment 192 ? I think it is possible.

.....will continue to function on these platforms....... serve multiple signatures at least for xp sp2 ? otherwise will not work at all.

Yes, '''NOT related''', but Google Chrome will stop support for Windows XP, as well as Windows Vista, Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 in April 2016 !
......Starting April 2016, Chrome '''will continue to function on these platforms''' but will no longer receive updates and security fixes......

AFAIK there will no SHA-1 more from January 1, for all Windows systems. Therefore Fx 43.0.1 and Fx 43.0.2 have been released. In Fx 43.0.2 Firefox is signed by a SHA-256.

"We are retaining SHA1 at this time. We will eventually deploy a solution of some kind that dual-stacks SHA1/SHA2 based on client version. CloudOps is working actively on a solution here - reach out to Travis by email/irc for more information, if you need it.
But, today, we're WONTFIX'd (bug status repaired to reflect) and no further action is due here."'
