Hi Joni,
As you mentioned about,
I would like to test this out an article. Let's pick one and do at least two versions of the article: one with a sign language video and one without.
Maybe we can start at basic, like this "Find what version of Firefox you are using". Link to article - Click here
Let's also figure out some ways to measure how successful we are. Should we look at video views? Article "helpfulness" votes?
We can measure that by using YouTube, since they have counter, thumb up and down, but disable comments.
Also, let's get some ideas on how we'd present the video. Will it be a link to YouTube? Where would the link be on the page? We can use A/B testing to experiment with different variations.
I would recommend to add a link to YouTube and put it on the very bottom of the page, below "Share this article" link and above "Was this article helpful?" stating it to something like, "Watch it in ASL Version {captioned in English}"?? Like you said A/B so we could do some more experiment.
Let's give the community a few days to leave feedback and ideas. If we don't hear back by Friday.
Yes, I am looking forward for more ideas from the community as well.
Maybe we can open new position for more volunteers to get involved in signing in the video?
