Allizom email trouble

  1. Hey Guys and Gals,

I have a small problem with Allizom and/or Mozilla emails.

A few days ago I started receiving emails every hour on the hour from notifications@support.mozilla.org Now first thing I thought it was my virus software goofing up Thunderbird but I did not use it this morning and logged directly onto the mail server. And like I expected there were another 11 emails from last night to this morning all saying the same thing. The emails say the following:

"Thank you for your first contribution to the Mozilla support forums! You just made somebody's day!

Mozilla support is fully powered by our volunteer community that is helping hundreds of users everyday. This community is formed by passionate Firefox and Thunderbird users who take some of their spare time to help others. We couldn't do it without your passion and enthusiasm. Your contribution, as minor as it might seem, has tremendous value. Solving one issue in the support forums can help up to 1000 users a day!

    Tell us about yourself!

We are always very happy to hear from new people who like helping on the forums so if you haven’t met our community yet please take a minute to introduce yourself . If you want to stay low-profile, that’s also ok :). You can also find us all hanging out on IRC, on the #sumo channel .

    Learn new things

If you are interested in learning more about how this whole support thing works, check out our contributor training . This includes some cool troubleshooting info, guidelines, how-to questions, and info about where to find more help if stuck.

    Stay in touch

Finally, if you want to follow all news related to SUMO, don’t forget about our community forums, official blog and Twitter account. We also meet almost every Monday - and you can join us.

Thank you once more. We are looking forward to seeing you more often around SUMO! Keep rocking!"

Now i am not sure what is going on but how the heck do I stop these emails from being sent to me? I could block sender but there must be a way to stop these emails beside doing a total block.

Please advise why this just started a few days ago and how to stop it. Thanks in advance Gren

p.s. (so far I have over 30 emails in just a couple days all saying the same as I listed above, every hour on the hour.)

  2. Hello, Grendor.

Thank you for reporting this here. Can you be even more awesome and open a bug with this using this link? I would do it myself, but you have all the details at hand, so it should be much easier for you.

    Cheers,

    Michał

  3. Hey vesper,

Thanks for the reply and help.

I had posted a question several time but none showed up so I though this message was gone as well.

I posted the report you suggested bug number 1211966.

I don't know what is happening but get 24+ emails a day from Allizom and/or Mozilla is driving me nuts.

Thanks again for the response. Have a great day. Fred

  4. Great, thanks for that, Fred!

I hope our devs can investigate it soon and fix what's broken.

Apologies for the unfortunate glitch causing this. I wish I had a button to turn this off, somewhere...

@Everyone: if you notice a similar problem, please add to Fred's report here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1211966

  5. I've moved the bug into the SUMO product and made some edits to make it clearer what the issue is.

  6. Thanks for reporting, Grendor!

It should be fixed now, do let us know if you're still having issues.

  7. Hey Guys & Gals,

Thanks for such a fast response to my post I really appreciate it.

Thanks for all your hard work with this and other user issues as well. You all do a bang up job and never get enough credit in my view.

    Thanks again. Fred (Gren)
