Thunderbird causes my machine to 'hang' from time to time, often for up to a second and usually a number of times in quick succession on each ocasion. Sometimes this happens frequently - say every 5 or 10 minutes - sometimes only after an hour or more since the past occurrance. My machine hangs completely - nothing will work, mouse, keyboard, sound, other apps etc. If I happen to be typing (into any app - including Thunderbird - when this happens, input ceases, the cursor freezes and - if the problem persists for a second or two, Windows reports "[app] is not responding" I cannot be certain, but I believe the problem occurs whilst messages are being retrieved.

This is a very serious problem as it means that I can never leave TB running as the problems it causes are not acceptable. This means I cannot deal with incoming messages without periodically re-starting TB - which is an utter PIA.

I am running Win 11 Professional on a 2-year old machine with 64 Gb of memory. I have run TB in Troubleshoot mode, I have confirmed that the problem occurs regardless or whatever other apps are running (or none) and I have proven conclusively that no other app causes any kind of similar problem.

Looking forward yto hearing if others have had the same issue and what can be done about it.

We have bought a new computer from our tech guy before. This time, all was fine except for the Thunderbid calendar. The 20 GB of email files are all there and email still works. Only the calendar is blank. Our guy admits he dislikes Mozilla and rarely deals with it. Is there any way we can find the contents of the calendar? The old computer is still here in our house, but we only have one monitor. I had birthdays, lots of birthdays setup as repeating events. I hate to lose that.

This is odd as we didn't lose anything the last time we bought a new computer from same guy. We already were running Windows 11, so that is not the issue.

I am trying to edit my message separator line (which I added many years ago). Now there is a big gap in the line and messages. How can I reduce this gap please? Any advice?

bold texti have a thunderbird profile on exterior drive I have installed linux mint on my PC but cannot locate the profile to use my old TB profile -either by replacing it or renaming the old profile for the linux one

I have followed all the other recommendations with, no luck. I am on Windows 11 and use Eset virus software. Thunderbird is not listed as running it Task Manager, and there is no Profile.lock (think that was what it was called) in the profile directory, and I have deleted the existing profiles and recreated it. I have uninstalled and reinstall Thunderbird, and I have rebooted my computer. I am frustrated and concerned I will loose saved emails and my address book! Help.

I am using Thunderbird 140.9.1esr (64-bit) on a Ubuntu 24.04 system. Every time I restart Thunderbird, it reverts to a little used Gmail account as the default account. I have several accounts, but my main email account is a MS365 account. I reset the setting, but every time it is restarted, the default goes back to Gmail. I have tried everything that I've found online, but cannot correct this behaviour.

Do you have any suggestions or assistance?

Thunderbirdの画面でプロバイダアドレスと、gmailのアドレスを2つ使っていたのですが、プロバイダの方が受信ボックスごと消えてしまいました。 coplitに相談して、 送信サーバー、受信サーバーともに設定し直しましたが、「セキュリティとプライバシー」の画面で「パスワード」の行を削除してしまいました。 もう一度、「パスワード」を入力すると、復活するというのですが、その入力画面にたどり着けません。 接続を確認すると、送信・受信ともに「安全な接続が確認されました」と出るのですが、実際の送受信はできない状態です 多分、パスワードが入っていないせいだと思います。AIは受信ボックスをクリックすれば入力画面に遷移するというのですが、そんな画面が出てきません

When I reinstalled Thunderbird recently, it no longer leaves messages in my inbox bold, the darker font indicating unread until I click on the message. I tried changing the settings, but it doesn't seem to "take". This is annoying because it appears as if I've looked at all emails in my inbox just because Thunderbird is open. I'm not looking at it, I come back, nothing is in bold. It makes it harder to id spam, because at a glance I think everything is OK email I've already looked at.

RE: How to turn OFF message preview when I single-click on message?

When in TB message list, and selecting a message for an operation by making a single-click on the message, the selected message opens. When using CNTL key to select several messages together for an operation, each of the messages opens an individual preview pane. I have searched TB's knowledgebase, but apparently no other users have this problem.

During most attempts to move emails to folders in Thunderbird, the operation does not occur for five to ten seconds. Often, I will see a "systems busy" circle during the operation. This has been going on for weeks...

It's a big time waster. I can't do anything else in Thunderbird until the "Move" has been completed.

Most of my buttons have disappeared except the send button, which doesn't work. Online help is confusing or doesn't fix the problem. I'm ready to move to a different platform. Why is this so difficult?

I am with activ8.net.au, and I cannot now send e-mails. Receiving is fine. Have contacted activ8-me and they cannot help.

Version is 150.0 (64 bit)

Program does not check Pop Mail accounts on startup. Only checking after triggering with button or shift+f5 Timely check is succesfull (1min,10min etc.)

I got 6 accounts and -everyone is checked to include on startup -added/checked config file options;added new lines -tried safe mode etc. -delete json file

None of the above worked.

Any more suggestions?

I have a backup file from another thunderbird installation. The profile in this backup contains a file named abook.mab. I suppose this is the address book. I would like to copy the addresses from this installation to my current thunderbird 147.0.1 (64-bit). Tools > import > address book does not work. Can you please advise me?

I left outlook and chose tbird with cardbook. I am not happy with it. When I choose "new message" I get a blank form and can choose an individual addressee but do not have the option of addressing I group I created. My contacts are in google with supposed cardbook coordination. I think your contact list is interferring with the cardbook data. This is a kluge. How do I fix it
