I recently moved my email hosting to a new service. Migrated all "old" messaging to that new server successfully. I have tested that new service and webmail and all things check out, including sending outgoing test emails from those accounts.

I set up Thunderbird using the proper server settings and ports but got this message when I tried to send out a test. Obviously something in settings is off, but I just don't see it. Ideas.

Long-time user of Thunderbird, very happy with it, have stored about 4000 emails in local folders. When I opened Thunderbird recently, its display was hugely magnified, even though I use compact view, and smallest size font (9 pt.). Headers are so big that they fill 1/3 of screen. I've tried everything to fix it, including uninstalling the app and reinstalling it. Nothing works.

Moving from a Win 10 machine with TB ver 102.15.1 (64-bit) (Old I know but I still dislike the "new" interface and it still works) to new machine using Mint 22.3 Cinnamon with TB 140.9 esr (64 bit) - (biting the interface bullet)

Copied over the content of the profile folder to the existing profile folder on the new machine. Mail files are in ImapMail directory and mail functions normally.

All local folders came over but under mail I have 3 directories: Local Folders non networked Local Folders smart mailboxes all the local folders accessible through the old client are located in the non networked... directory

These local folders are not showing through the new client. I see just deleted and outbox, which presumably corresponds to the trqash and unsent messages files in the Local Folders directory on the new machine.

I have a vague memory that about 18 months ago I looked into whether or not I could place the local folders on a network drive, so that they would be on one of my NAS drives that gets backed up automatically but I didn't think that I had done anything about this.

Question therefore: Is this a version issue, an OS issue or something else entirely causing me to not see the local folder content in the Mint client? & How do I correct this?

2 inbox accounts appeared on my email program after an unplanned windows 11 upgrade when I was adding a new SSD on my laptop.

My original inbox was fwmc@nacs.net. The new addition is fwmc@nacs.net(IMAP) (that is the way it is displayed on my screen)

There are some duplicate emails in the 2 inboxes but also some unique emails in each box.

How can I get back to 1 inbox?

I use Thunderbird and have done for years. Nowadays new messages seem to be placed in the inbox within previous email threads within that thread. This often means that they are not flagged as new emails. They get buried in old threads and never brought to notice, consequently are never seen. This means I miss a lot of emails.

Is there any selectable option that brings all messages into the inbox individually and visibly, so that they are not missed, and always seen. That is, stops emails being placed within an existing thread, no matter what its content is. I am very happy to reorganise my incoming mails manually.

for no reason yesterday my thunderbird started droping this error: Mozila thunderbird ESR: connection to serverpop3.b-primus.lt was reset. no settings was changed, i was using it perfectly and at one time it just happend (as well email on my phone is still working). it seems it happend after some of thunderbird updates. Double checked all settings and passwords just in case and they are correct. any ideas ?

Based on my understanding its seems thunderbird is using SMTP AUTH instead of OAUTH2 as required for newer personal outlook.com accounts. Is my assessment correct? If so, is there a fix?

I'm using a 2 year old Mac running Sonoma 14.7.2. I recently updated to Thunderbird 128.13.0esr. I have a small e-mail address group within address books, created way before my recent Thunderbird update. Now I want to add people to that small group. Having trouble. Don't find any way to "add" to the small e-mail address list. In fact, I can't even type the new ones in there. I was hoping I could either shiftC/shiftV or drag and drop but that didn't work either. (and now, I just noticed that all the addess lists are much shorter than they were before I started trying to add to the small group! So it looks like I've lost a substsntial number of email addresses!! Some time ago when I updated Thunderbird, I lost all my saved mail. I went into Time Machine and went back to the prior Thunderbird and stayed there for a couple of years, afraid to update again until a few days ago. It seemed OK until today when I'm having this address book problem. Maybe I'll have to go back in time again. V.H. DeMarco

I see there are 3rd Party Message Filters. However, I'm not looking for those. I'm looking at the Tools> Message Filters>Filter name for:, where you can add Email Details>choose what part of the email, and then move Message to. I want to be able to view the Filter name alphabetically in the Folder(s)...without having to sort so many of them individually.

Example:

- Filter name: 123@domain.com - Match: From - Move Message to: Spam - Message Filters (alphabetically)

Any help would be appreciated.

I recently updated from a very old version of Thunderbird. The new version no longer shows the little popup messages at the bottom of my screen when automatically checking accounts for mail at the designated interval. As I have numerous email accounts (all set up as POP mail), set to check at different intervals, these popups were useful to me - they also showed when I manually checked an account, or all accounts - this also is not happening anymore. Have they been discontinued, or is it possible I turned them off? I did change some things to suppress nags to update Thunderbird during the time I was using the old version, and unfortunately didn't keep a record of those changes. I'd appreciate knowing which function in about:config controls this feature so I can check to see whether it's set correctly. Thanks!
