I use Windows 10 and Thunderbird for email but I can NOT SEND anymore to anyone. I got an error message that said, "Authentication Required" and gave me a web address go to but google says it no longer available. Tell me how to fix Thunderbird so I can SEND messages again..

I have not being able to add this 4 account to thunderbird: hotmail.co.uk/ live.co.uk/btinternet.com/gmail.com. I keep getting error either cannot connect to server or username and password wrong. I have managed to add two accounts successfully. I don't quiet understand what is happening with this new 153.0.1 version. I has it working before I had to reinstall windows 11 PRO. I have had Thunderbird on my Mac Monterey synced to my Comcast email address with no problems. Usually I have to enter my Comcast password when I send the first message for the day. It has caused no real problems since I obtained this computer, probably sometime in 2021. Within 2023 I obtained a Windows 10, onto which I also put Thunderbird. Last November I upgraded to Windows 11 had kept Thunderbird. I did not do the upgrade myself. The technician used Google Drive and OneDrive for backup. I added a GMAIL address on that system to my Thunderbird installation on Windows 11.

For the past week Thunderbird has been popping up a Comcast site requesting that I enter my Comcast password. This is bizarre! How can I get my Thunderbird to behave more normally on my Windows 11? Thanks in advance. The technician only did the upgrade. I did the subsequent program reinstallations.

Storage always full with only 100 or so e mails in my in box No junk or spam or anything else No one else in the company has this problem but me and my storage is getting smaller and smaller . I do more e mails then anyone but am always full with less than 200 e mails

I updated my Mac to Tahoe 25.5.2 recently. After the update my e-mail – Thunderbird- would no longer work. I was able to connect Thunderbird to the my university gmail account and can now read my e-mail, but I am unable to send e-mail from Thunderbird and I get a request for a password. When I enter my University password, I get the same message back. I only have one University password. What password is it asking for? The help lien at the university if not of any help. The segment below from University material point ou that I do need a second password. Where do I get it from?

2. If you are a UMN Google (Gmail) user sending from a desktop client like Thunderbird, you must use the authenticated relay smtp.gmail.com and sign in with an active Google account plus a Google Desktop/Mobile client password (your regular UMN password may not work for this).

To be really useful to me I need Thunderbird to be able to read my Outlook pst-files.

For years my practice has been to move emails from the ost-file to the pst-file too limit the size of the ost-file. Both files are localized on my computer but only the emails in the ost-file are in my gmail-account. So the method helps me limit the size of my gmail-account but still gives me total access to my email-history.

Without a similar possibility in Thunderbird it's difficult for me to leave Outlook, which I really want to. Can you help me?

Have used Thunderbird for many years - very pleased - just got a new laptop - in the past, an email sent or received from the phone was visible on the laptop - and vice versa - with the new laptop, I cannot see email I have sent on the phone - also, while on the phone I cannot see email I have sent on the new laptop - I really want these messages synchronized like they were a month ago - what do I need to do?

All bar one of my Extensions have stopped working on the last update (see attached image). I'm on Linux Mint latest, running TB 153.0esr. Also, I used to have two sent mail folders, one called "Sent" which showed all sent mail, and another called "Sent Mail" which was the useful one as it showed sent mail that hadn't been deleted. Now I have two called "Sent" which isn't helpful. Same with Spam.

Are there settings I can adjust to re-enable the extensions - the QuickText is the one I really need, and is it possible to rename the Sent and Spam folders as I can't see an option to do so.

This happens regardless of whether message is moved to trash or junk folder. My concern are this also marks spam, phishing and/or malicious emails read which allows read receipt to be sent when enabled. I don't want to be forced to use remove immediately or disable read receipt option to ensure these messages are deleted unread.

This month I downloaded the current version of Tbird on a new computer running windows 11. Tbird receives all my email but can not send mail. I have an old computer running on windows 7 which has Tbird that was loaded at least 5 years ago. It receives and sends email without problems. The two versions of Tbird are using the same SMTP settings: server: mail.twc.com Port: 587. My email account for Tbird is xxxx@triad.rr.com

I also have a gmail account which receives and sends on both computers without problems. My gmail account is xxxx@gmail.com.

Both computers run through the same internet network.

I am trying to switch from the ESR channel to the release channel. I have Thunderbird 143.13.0esr and am trying to upgrade to 153 (not ESR). When I upgraded, Thunderbird could no longer find the inbox for my primary email and I had to restore both Thunderbird 143.13.0esr and my email library from my Time Machine backup.

I am seeking advice on how to do some cleanup of an inbox anomaly so that I can install 153 without losing my inbox.

Details follow:

My primary email account has had an oddity in Thunderbird for years in which I have two inboxes: an active one with lots of email messages as well as subfolders, and an inactive one which is empty and no subfolders. I have tried deleting the inactive one by selecting it in the sidebar and choosing File, Delete folder, but that command is gray.

By poking around in my Library, Thunderbird, my profile, Mail, my pop account of interest, I discovered the inactive inbox is named Inbox and has only two files, "Inbox" and "Inbox.msf". The active inbox is named "Inbox prev" and has these files: "Inbox prev", "Inbox prev.msf", and a folder "Inbox prev.sbd" which has a bunch of files and more subfolders. All of my four email accounts have multiple folders and subfolders, but I was able to identify both my primary email account and my active inbox from various folder names that were unique to that account and inbox.

Today I followed the following procedure:

1. Quit Thunderbird (and all other apps) 2. Force a Time Machine backup 3. Download Thunderbird 153 for English, US 4. Verify the SHA hash 5. Install Thunderbird 6. Verify the signature 7. Launch Thunderbird

Both my active and inactive inboxes in my primary email account were gone from the Thunderbird interface. I checked my library and the files appear to still be there.

I proceeded with the following remediation:

8. Restore Thunderbird 143.13.0esr from Time Machine, replacing the 153 version 9. Restore the Thunderbird library folder from Time Machine

I launched Thunderbird and my inbox has been restored to the UI, but I am on the esr channel and not the desired release channel.

Is there any kind of manual cleanup I can do to get rid of the inactive inbox, rename the active inbox from Inbox prev to Inbox, and then re-upgrade to 153?

Suddenly thunderbird will not accept emails from Yahoo. It use to. The email shows up with a line through it like it has been deleted and the message is blank. How do I fix it? Someone suggested looking at options to see if it's blocked but I cant find the option button

On Saturday morning 27 June 2026 I tried to login my Orcon email account via Thunderbird (which I have been using for a long time). But my login didn't work, I got a message saying "login to POP3.orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed." On 30th June 2026 I reported the problem to Orcon.

Orcon gave me the following settings for Thunderbird. I have done that and even made a new account: Incoming Server Type: IMAP Mail Server: imap.orcon.net.nz Port: 143 SSL: Off Authentication: On (username and password required)

Outgoing SMTP Server: Mail Server: smtp.orcon.net.nz Port: 25 SSL: Off Authentication: Off

Since then I have spent many hours and going around in circles with Orcon's Technical Support to resolve this, but no luck. They blame Thunderbird. I used Thunderbird Troubleshoot Mode. The message that comes up reads: login to server mail orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed. Please can you check that your server settings above are correct? And if there is a bug? Irma

Each time I open TBird, I get a message at the bottom left of the screen telling me that TBird has deleted X number of messages. I do not want TBird to ever delete any messages. How do I turn this automatic delete function off?
