I am using the Thunderbird software (140.7.1esr 64-bit) for mail merge purposes on a Windows 11 operating system. However, when I start the mail merge process, it begins initially but then automatically disconnects before completing the task.
Due to this issue, I am unable to complete the mail merge properly. Kindly look into this problem and provide a solution as soon as possible.
Thank you.

Hello! I'm having a problem where a specific tag keeps un-applying itself. I have a number of filters that look for specific words in emails, and tag them accordingly -- all of my other filters are working just fine, but one specific one has decided to stop working. It has exactly the same settings as the other ones, and when I manually run the filter, it correctly applies the right tag.
But, minutes later, the tag will un-apply itself, and I cannot figure out why. For some reason, an older message is staying correctly tagged with that filter, but newer ones un-apply the tag. This same filter and tag used to work just fine. Other tags on emails from the same source work fine, too.

I'm running TB on Windows 11 on a Dell Desktop machine. It's a pretty basic installation with EE Cyber security, which is I think Norton. I've been using TB for a couple of years but recently it has almost stopped working. I notice from Task Manager that TB is massively leaking memory and consuming much CPU time. I don't think I have any add-ons and I only use TB for email. It's now so bad that I'm even unable to go into TB's Settings or Tools or anything else. I've tried creating an exclusion for TB profiles and TB.exe in the Norton. I've tried starting TB in troubleshoot mode but all to no avail. I have it in IMAP, Port 993, SSL/TLS for incoming mail and Port 465, SSL/TLS, Authentication Required for Outgoing mail. I'm currently often unable to even access mail previously downloaded to the local Mail folders, TB is just hanging with the bar in the lower right corner endlessly running along. Most puzzling of all, is that very occasionally is starts working again and then I dare not switch the machine off! It's become an indeterminate system. Please help, I'm nearly eighty and trying to organize my holiday, which is needs email to make bookings. Thanks in anticipation.

Hello. When handling a large volume of emails, some sent messages are not saved in the Sent folder. As a result, they are only saved on the 3rd or 4th attempt, and the recipient receives 3-4 copies of the same email. What could be causing this issue and how can it be resolved? We reinstalled the client and configured it to save sent emails to a different folder, but all without success.

Hello,
I need help recovering my old emails from Thunderbird.
I am using a POP account. Recently, I changed the message storage location from the C: drive to the F: drive. After doing this, Thunderbird only shows recent emails, while my old emails are missing.
Here is what I have checked:
The mailbox files still exist on the F: drive. Inbox file: approximately 1.1 GB Sent file: approximately 1.18 GB I also have a complete Thunderbird profile backup of approximately 2.73 GB. The profile contains prefs.js, the Mail folder, and all profile files. Some account folders such as: pop.accessarchitects.in pop.accessarchitects-1.in pop.accessarchitects-2.in have Inbox files that are 0 KB. However, another mailbox file named Inbox is about 1.1 GB, which appears to contain my old messages. Thunderbird downloads and displays new emails correctly, but it does not display the old emails. I previously had around 60,000+ emails organised into many custom folders such as Contracts, Bills, Axis Bank Statements, Notifications, etc. Some mailbox files still have large sizes, but Thunderbird does not display their contents. My folder structure F:\Mails\
Inbox (1.1 GB) Sent (1.18 GB) Inbox.sbd Local Folders.sbd
Inside Local Folders.sbd, I also have mailbox files such as:
Inbox (~642 MB) contract & bill (~778 MB)
The data appears to exist, but Thunderbird is not recognising or indexing it.
My Questions How can I reconnect these existing mailbox files without losing any data? Is there a way to rebuild the indexes so Thunderbird recognises the old messages? Could the issue be caused by an incorrect profile mapping after changing the storage location?
I have not deleted the original mailbox files, and I have a complete profile backup available.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I added two new email accounts to my Thunderbird installation (140.12.1esr (64-bit) under Windows 10), and am able to receive and send mail just fine. But the T-bird Search utility doesn't work for those accounts. I can do a Search for an email address, subject, etc. that's showing on my screen for those accounts, but the Search utility comes up empty. Search does work for three other accounts, however. Any ideas?

Hello
I use Thunderbird for many years, I have a profile weighing 3,6 GB now… I already moved this profile on my old computer, from default location to a data disk. Now I needed to move it to a new computer, so I moved it to my Dropbox (with local storage on both), to conveniently access it from the new machine, and to have some kind of backup (with a real backup, more occasional, of course). I don't plan to launch Thunderbird from both computers, so there should be no conflict.
I installed a fresh new download of Thunderbird (152), which I just upgraded to 153. The new computer runs Windows 11 Professional (build 26200.8875), has 32 GB of memory and a large amount of free disk space.
My profile.ini file currently looks like: ``` [Install734AE0B000379192] Default=C:\Dropbox\Applications\Thunderbird\0q9jw2nn.default Locked=1
[Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/ncc2rvps.default
[Profile0] Name=default-release IsRelative=0 Path=Profiles/30jrlwud.default-release
[General] StartWithLastProfile=0 Version=2
[Profile2] Name=PhiLho IsRelative=0 Path=C:\Dropbox\Applications\Thunderbird\0q9jw2nn.default Default=1 ``` Profile 0 and 1 were created at installation time. I added the Profile2 and I set StartWithLastProfile to 0 to ensure the profile manager sees the profile.
When I start Thunderbird, after choosing the PhiLho profile, I end up with an empty window: no accounts, no messages, no folders, etc. I see no relevant error in the developer console, or the logs. What I am missing?

I have been using Thunderbird for 20+ years, maybe as many as 30. Forever. I have moved my profile across several versions of Windows and multiple computers. There are files in the root of the profile with a modified date of 2009. There may be older ones in sub-directories. There are 18 folders and 125 files. I suspect a lot of this is clutter left over from earlier versions of Thunderbird. In the Mail folder alone there are several hundred files and folders excluding the WDSEML files and actual emails.
I'm toying with the idea of starting fresh with a clean install of Thunderbird and getting on the correct release channel but I don't want to bring along what appear to be hundreds or thousands of unused files and folders.
I there anyone that can identify what profile files and folders to keep and what can be deleted?
Thanks for your consideration.

Thunderbird: 153.0 (64-bit), Windows 11
Have noticed that my TRASH Folder is missing in the folder view. The actual folder exists, it just will not display.
Also creating new folder under are created (I checked the mail folder) but will also fail to display. Creating subfolders into an existing folder works. And moving it under INBOX, making it a subfolder also works and displays
Any ideas how to recover/display the TRASH folder and new folders ? As the TRASH folder is missing it means I have no way to look at deleted email or recover them. Nor any way to search delete emails.
Emptying the TRASH works - no errors.
