Essentially, I’m wondering if thunderbird can be used to store old emails on a hard drive. I am wondering because I would like to be able to access them without the ability to use the internet because it would be on an old computer with no WiFi card or Ethernet capabilities. I would like to be able to store all of these emails with as little connected to the internet as possible.

My emails that I send usually have the same attachments, but sometimes the emails are returned to me undelivered for various reasons, but I have realised that in some cases it's because 2 of my docs (although in PDF) don't want to go through unless I send them separately. Is there a way of increasing the size of attachments I can send?

I am upgrading from my old HP computer running Windows 10 (not window 11 compatible) to a new Lenovo PC running windows 11. How can I transfer all my emails and email files to the new computer sothat I do not lose them?

I'm using Thunderbird 152.0a1 (2026-04-22) on Windows 10 64 bit. When I click the "Get Messages" button or File > Get New Messages for > [my e-mail account] nothing happens. The only way I've found to check for messages manually is by closing and re-opening the program.

I can get all my accounts except my business Gmail account, where I use my business name as the .com instead of Gmail.com.

As per the picture, when sending an email, the menubar 'partly' appears. Yes, if you press <Alt>, it shows normally, but when it's supposed to be hidden, it's still there...

When I send photos from my phone to my imac inbox, same email address, or when a third party sends me a verification code, "get messages" is very slow showing results. Sometimes minutes, so I have to go through several verification attempts. The primary email account is gmail. My ISP is comcast.net. I don't know if this matters, because slow Get Messages is recent. It used to work very well

When clicking the "cloud icon" ("get all new messages") I would expect it to check all accounts. But it only check the account that is currently displayed (not the others). Is this a known bug? Is there a setting for this?

I have been using Thunderbird for 20+ years, maybe as many as 30. Forever. I have moved my profile across several versions of Windows and multiple computers. There are files in the root of the profile with a modified date of 2009. There may be older ones in sub-directories. There are 18 folders and 125 files. I suspect a lot of this is clutter left over from earlier versions of Thunderbird. In the Mail folder alone there are several hundred files and folders excluding the WDSEML files and actual emails.

I'm toying with the idea of starting fresh with a clean install of Thunderbird and getting on the correct release channel but I don't want to bring along what appear to be hundreds or thousands of unused files and folders.

I there anyone that can identify what profile files and folders to keep and what can be deleted?

I have noticed that when a .ics file is not able to be manually imported into Thunderbird via the Events and Tasks there is a way to get it to import. Simply edit the filename of the .ics file to something very short (like less than 8 characters). I'm not sure why longer and more complex .ics filenames fail but shortening the filename almost always works.

When messages arrive in inbox and are marked spam they do not auto move to spam folder. I have to uncheck the spam icon and re-check it. Not until then will they move to spam folder.

This doesn't happen all the time, but quite often. I have rebooted, tried closing and re-opening T-bird, I don't know what to try next

I have thunderbird emails but lost my passwords so I cannot gain access to them.

I just purchased a new computer. I use thunderbird for email. After installing thunderbird I am unable to sign in because it will not accept my password. It keeps telling me to use a new password.
