I have been using Thunderbird for ages now with no problem, but I suddenly realised that no recent emails were appearing from my Gmail account. I have tried everything suggested on line to resolve the problem, including uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, and deleting and re-entering my acccount details but neither the IMAP or SMTP servers will connect to Gmail. I have reset all of the server settings on Thunderbird, and have checked that Gmail is IMAP compliant (which, apparently, is is now automatically). I have spent hours trying to sort this out and am just at the point of abandoning Thunderbird completely, but I am loathe to do so if there is a solution. The latest error message i have received is "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password" but I don't know what else I can check or change.

Hi, I'm tring to rearrange the order of my email accounts in the left hand pane. The FAQ says sandwich icon -> account settings -> move them around in the desired order. This looks OK in the account settings list when I do that, but when I close it, the accounts order is as before, and this order shows up again when I re-open the account settings list. Is there any way to make this "stick"? Do I need to click some hidden Confirm button? Many thanks in advance!

Thank you for answering my request, Matt, but I cannot send my response via email. So I am copying and pasting what I tried to respond to Matt. Hopefully he can still access my original message if it is needed.

Hi Matt, Thank you for the prompt reply. Unfortunately F10 did nothing when I pressed on it with the cursor in the compose area. No menu bar came up. Nothing changed.

Yes, I guess I did disable the composition toolbar unintentionally as I did R click on the 2 choices (menu bar and composition toolbar) and it made them both go away and no options came up, with nothing left behind in that 'sent' area. (In response to you, it did go 'send later' in gray first and there had been some spotty internet access then but internet did resume fine, but the 'send later' stayed gray, but then disappeared as above.) The email addresses I was using were all current operational addresses.

So I need to get composition toolbar option back up, so I can respond to and send out emails. This is a major problem. I now have no way of responding to emails.

Thanks once again, Mary On 21/03/2026 3:35 a.m., Mozilla Support Forum wrote: > Mozilla Support > It no longer shows a 'sent' option at the top left corner when I am replying. Often there is a space before or after the entry or you have used an address book entry that does not actually have an email address. > > I guess you have somehow managed to disable the composition toolbar by right clicking on the toolbar or menu. If you have neither of those toolbar to right click on press the F10 key in the compose window to make a menu bar visible to right click on >

Hello

i am struggling with TB as it always uses the default email of a server account.

Instead, i would like to use different accounts based on the recipients

I could not find an extension with this behavior.

For example, I would like all email exchanged (sent & received) to a domain ( @thatcompany.com ) to use a given account alias (myalias.email@proton.me)

Thanks for all assistance

I am trying to setup Thunderbird using one User-ID and PWD combination, with multiple email addreses (Spectrum ISP). I have executed the Profile Manager but it seems to use the email address provided as the account access User-ID. This is not working in my scenario. I need to provide to Thunderbird User-ID and PWD credentials once, and retrieve/send email for multiple email addresses. My ISP (Spectrum) supports multiple email addresses (up-to 5) that are associated with one User-ID and PWD.

When I send a mail with FileLink, I get the message: "The message could not be sent. An error occurred while sending the email. The server responded with: “Spam message rejected.” Please check the message and try again." (actually, in French: "L’envoi du message a échoué. Une erreur est survenue lors de l’envoi de l’e-mail. Le serveur a répondu : Spam message rejected. Veuillez vérifier le message et essayer à nouveau.")

I made different tests:

  • change email source (so, change SMTP server): it worked - but I do not want to change the standard SMTP server of the initial email address
  • after the first error, the attached file, which is a shortcut to the big file, can be suppressed, and not the link in the body of the message ; sending the message is accepted

So, I suspect the spam filter to refuse the "attached shortcut".

The question: Is there a way to configure the FileLink feature so that it does not attach a file, but just add the link the body of the message?' Or are there other neat workarounds?'

Hello,

I have an old (Windows 7!) PC with an older version of Thunderbird (not sure which version) on it. My PC died, but the hard drive is still perfectly fine and all of the files are intact. I recently bought a Mac Book and wonder if it is possible to install Thunderbird for Mac on it and then import all my messages and contacts from the old PC hard drive using an import tool.

Thanks very much in advance for any advice, tips, suggestions, etc!

Hi, am not finding anything helpful in the support area, so hoping someone can help me solve. When a calendar reminder pops up, and I try to snooze or dismiss, I get this message:

Status Code: 2,147,500,037, null

Server Replied with 400 If you’re seeing this message after snoozing or dismissing a reminder and this is for a calendar you do not want to add or edit events for, you can mark this calendar as read-only to avoid such experience in future. To do so, get to the calendar properties by right-clicking on this calendar in the list in the calendar or task view.

Thing is, I do want to add and edit events, so I have no other options and the reminder keeps popping up every couple of minutes it seems. Any help resolving is appreciated. Thx!

I have two successful emails running in Thunderbird Email, on my MacBook Pro, macOS Tahoe 26.3.1; however, a third one fails to get registered. The error message says unable to access server, " which may be due to username or password. I have checked several times to make sure I am entering the correct email and password. Still no luck, and my email service provider, "Rogers Together With Shaw," says that everything is on their side, is correct, as I can access my Webmail they have, which they assure me goes via the Internet, like any other email app out there, meaning the problem resides with Mozilla Thunderbird. Ask them. I am now asking. Looking forward to a meaningful reply.

Has anyone noticed a bug with Thunderbird if you repeatedly click cancel after the desktop app is launched. I decided I didn't want to access the mail box then clicked cancel and was represented with the password entry box multiple times and each time I clicked cancel to exit the app. After a number of repeated cancels, it eventually systematically opened each mailbox that has been unified in Thunderbird. Has anyone else had this experience?
