Hello,

for some reasons I need to downgrade a TB installation (Mac silicon 148.0.1) to the ESR channel, 140.8.1esr for Mac silicon.

I read articles in the KB where Mozilla discourages this, but I would avoid to move 15Gb circa of emails by hand copying and pasting them...

So is there anyone that has tried this before? Any suggestion how to do it without loosing e-mail in th process?

I send out golf group e-mails. I have myself (e-mail address) in the group, so it will also come back to me. The server keeps rejecting my group e-mails because it says my e-mail address is incorrect, I have checked it several times and it is correct. I even edited it to be sure. Why is the server still rejecting it?

Hi. I access a gmail account via Thunderbird. It's generally quite efficient, but recently it has become very sluggish. I have pretty fast internet, wired at 1G, so usually my mail appears almost immediately. In the last week or so it has slowed down dramatically, sometimes requiring multiple login attempts. Any idea what's going on? Thanks. Steve

I can receive mail fine. Cannot send mail on gmx.co.uk acct, but gmx.net works on oauth2. But oauth2 is missing on gmx.co.uk It's just not on the pulldown. I tried a new thunderbird acct for gmx.co.uk but oauth2 is still missing.

I've been trying to move my Thunderbird data (148.0) from a Win10 to a Win11 machine. I've meticulously followed both the methods outlined at http://mzl.la/1ApHiU3. I have copied my original profiles.ini from the ...AppData\Roaming folder to that location on the new machine, then corrected the drive locations in the file (see attached profiles.ini image). (yes, the correct "j4sqsccb.XXXXXXX" folder is copied to the new installation's root: a bulky several-GB)

In order to try to replicate my original computer's admittedly-awkward installation from long ago, I have added the suffix " -p -no-remote" to the desktop icon's Target field. And on startup, the new T-bird does properly show my original profiles in the Select panel - even though I only ever used the one that functioned correctly, identified as 1 in the profiles.ini file (see Choose User Profile image, IDs X'ed-out).

However, on selecting that profile on the Win11 machine, Thunderbird just takes me to the account setup screen, as if it's unable to locate or load the account settings for that profile.

I'm only doing this clunky method of copying-over out of ignorance; I'd be very happy to simplify the mess I'd created decades ago with my original installation. OR if you think I'm better off wiping all evidence of past installations to start from a clean install, I'll be happy to do that. Please let me know if you need additional info I've failed to provide here!

Also adding images of my ...Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles folder and Installs.ini file, just in case!

Using Acronis True Image for Western Digital (ver 2025 build 41936) to backup my files on a daily basis. Recently the backup program has been stopping and reporting that it cannot access some Thunderbird files, even when Thunderbird was not running (1st image) I tried 'Compacting all Folders' in Thunderbird but the result was the same (2nd image). Lastly, I tried clearing the cache - the result is the same. In all cases Thunderbird was not running during the backup.

i realize that this is not a Thunderbird issue, but I've been unable to get help elsewhere. I wondered if anyone might have a solution since Acronis apparently sees the file as being accessed - is there a way to remove that?

I get this error ALL THE TIME from TB. Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp-mail.outlook.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again. Copilot says that TB is NOT recognizing my personal Outlook email account as a viable SMTP account. Been on line with Copilot for couple of hours without success. Does anyone at Mozilla have anything to offer me?

For some reason I have lost all old emails in my inbox. I am only getting new messages, but I have many Thats I leaving in my inbox to address later. Please help me to recover them. This hspppen on or about a March 4, 2026

Since the firefox upgrade of March 4, 2026, I have lost all of my old emails in my inbox. These are important items I need to work on before I complete and file away. I need to gain access to them ASAP. Thank you.

When I try retrieving my email from my AOL account (IMAP) using Thunderbird and Windows 11 I get the message "Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.aol.com." This account was working fine for months until the T-bird update. I have several other accounts on T-Bird, including Gmail and others, and they're still working just fine.

I have double-checked all the account settings and tried deleting the AOL account from T-Bird and setting it up again from scratch, but the problem persists.

My friend Ken has been using Thunderbird successfully for a long time. in the last 2 weeks, yahoo popups have shown up that prevent Thunderbird email usage. How do we get rid of them?

I would like to know how I can control the timing of compacting the mailboxes under Linux and Windows. The reason why I ask is that every time compacting needs to be done, the prompt to do so comes up as soon as the Thunderbird interface finishes loading but before all of the mailboxes are finished updating,which can take several minutes. If I accept the compacting, it inevitably returns an error that it could not run because the mailboxes are still updating. Or I can cancel until I go through this the next time.

It would seem like a simple matter to either give the user a way to delay the compacting process, or have Thunderbird not initiate it until it is safe to do so to begin with.

I have tried to research this but have not found any answers.

I find TB spam filtering pretty weak. As one example, the same spam email can come in multiple times, be marked as spam each time, yet never be caught by TB. I'm running behind - currently using release 115.18.0 - I have had no reason to upgrade until now. My question: If I update is spam filtering improved?? thx,

Currently my Thunderbird 'Sent' mailbox is only holding emails back to the beginning of 2025. However on previous PC's my Sent mail went farther back, but not I think to the beginning of when I bought the PC. I do backup my PC with some regularity but I am wondering whether there is a limit to how far back Thunderbird saves messages. I've been using Thunderbird for about 20 years and wonder whether I can retrieve some of my great emails :)

The Subject line shows 'Invoice from XYZ' but the correspndents line show ABC. Both of these suppliers use Netsuite. This also happens with other emails from other Netsuite users.

Thunderbird in the past showed a red number above the dock icon telling me I had so many new emails. The newest version I now have does not do that and I cannot find a setting for that. Anyone know how to get the number back????

I have a window home computer that was upgraded from w10 to w11. I had to buy a new w11 machine at my vacation home because the old one was not upgradeable. I was successful in moving the profile from home to vacation home. But a month later I corrupted w11 on my new vacation machine while loading my earlier version of Adobe Photoshop from their instilling disk. W11 could not be repaired and I had to reinstall new w11 while keeping my files etc. This time Thunderbird would not let me move/use my old profile file. No mater what I tried!!

In the past, I've always moved the profile file "Thunderbird" in Appdata file to the new machine and renaming the installed Thunderbird file with XXX after it. It always worked in the past. My profile file is over 2mb. I've tried using all of the logical import options in this new instillations and only get error messages that it could not import the data and to look at the error console? Which I don't know where that is located. I will look for it in w11.

I think that the only difference (which I don't think should make a difference) is the directory name file difference after "users"

Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!!!
