Hi. When I go to Preferences -> Search -> Default Search Engine, the field is completely blank, there are no search engines whatsoever. Even the Search Shortcuts doesn't list any search engines, (only Bookmarks, Tabs and History). Even the "Find more search engines" tab which takes me to the Firefox Browser Add-Ons is no help, because I can't find any search engines (like Google or Bing) there.

Thanks for your help.

Two things- All links are opening up in private browsing tabs which is not the worst, but incredibly annoying, especially when I’m trying to log in to any work accounts and I wonder why my autofill isn’t working.

Is there a fix to this that I inadvertently broke?

And also the tabs and keyboard on mobile is so unbelievably slow to pull up its insane. This has been happening on my iPhone 12 pro and my wife’s iPhone 13 pro max and there is zero reason to have so much delay when opening up a new tab or clicking on the search bar used to be damn near instant, and NOT connect to the internet for an updated tab list for some reason……

Is there some setting that got automatically turned on on our phones that introduced that latency or is this just how the browser operates now?

I seem to have the problem where Firefox does not recognize a field as a login prompt and the autofill of iOS(Bitwarden in my case, but also not working with keychain) does not pop up. This is especially the case in sites where I first am only able to enter the email, and then the password in a second window. Is there a solution to this problem?

Noticed I had a new(?) inactive tabs section now, while I don’t really mind the idea of them being moved in that section trying to manage them is a bit of a nightmare.

Any time you scroll the list of inactive tabs and swipe one to the left to press delete, the app scrolls you to the top of the list. To me this is a pretty rough user experience that will prevent me from ever really using inactive tabs in any meaningful way.

Using the latest iOS on an iPhone 11.

Firefox was working well on my iPhone until about 1-2 months ago (release 100 maybe?) after which time it was suddenly very slow in specific scenarios. Anytime I open a new tab, I cannot move focus to the URL bar or type anything for probably 5-6 seconds. What I type usually does show up eventually. It seems like maybe it is loading something? I tried clearing my cache and offline website data which may have helped some but the behavior is still present and noticeable. I’ve also started experiencing crashes, for example when scrolling the tabs window and recently when I had the Data Management settings window open. I tried closing old (inactive and active) tabs: closing active tabs did not help, and closing an inactive tab takes probably 10-15 seconds to respond to the Delete tap. This never happened previously, so I’m guessing it was something to do with an update. Other browsers I’ve tried do not do this. Thanks – M

This is super weird, I have already downloaded dozens of photos from Firefox on my iPad before. In fact I did it just two days ago no issues. But for whatever reason I can no longer do this. When I try to download an image it says it needs access to my photos but it has access granted already. Checked my iPad settings, checked Firefox settings, restarted the app, and downloaded an update but it is still asking for permissions even though they’re enabled. :( How can I fix this?

Hi,

I have been running a self-hosted sync (token) server for Firefox for some years now. Recently, I wanted to turn on sync for my iPhone device as well. I've managed to supply all the settings on the advanced sync settings page, connected with my Firefox account. Until then everything looked OK. However the sync does not happen, even If a manual sync is initiated.

I've dumped the logs in the iOS Device, these will show a network error and an error number, which I am not aware of:

I can see however some requests from the device on my sync server:

-- snip -- x.x.x.x - - [25/Jul/2022:05:35:20 +0000] "GET /token/1.0/sync/1.5 HTTP/1.1" 200 6745 "-" "Firefox-iOS-FxA/102.2b13909 (iPhone; iPhone OS 15.5) (Firefox)" x.x.x.x - - [25/Jul/2022:05:35:20 +0000] "GET /storage/1.5/2/info/collections HTTP/1.1" 200 6242 "-" "Firefox-iOS-Sync/102.2b13909 (iPhone; iPhone OS 15.5) (Firefox)" x.x.x.x - - [25/Jul/2022:05:35:21 +0000] "GET /storage/1.5/2/storage/clients?full=1&newer=0.00 HTTP/1.1" 200 8826 "-" "Firefox-iOS-Sync/102.2b13909 (iPhone; iPhone OS 15.5) (Firefox)" -- snip --

Anyone has information what the network error "-9836" means? Thy sync on all other devices (Windows, Linux) is running flawlessly.

Thanks.

For the past few weeks, every link I click across all apps other than Firefox (which is set as the default browser on my phone) opens in private browsing mode. Even if Firefox is open and currently in regular browsing mode, the link opens as private. The only time it does not do this is if, in Firefox normal browsing, I click a link - then it opens in a new tab in normal mode.

I've read the Private Browsing on Firefox for Android. It's not helpful because iOS does not have the option to always open links in private browsing.
