I upgraded to Firefox 135.0 the other day and tried it out on a site I have used several times a week for at least 10 years. A .csv file that I regularly download failed to do so. The system simply failed to respond, and nothing appeared in the download window. The site offers the option of downloading the same data in a .xls file, and that worked. (My previous, obsolete, Firefox gave me the option of where to download to, and remembered the choice between vists. Such is progress!)

Ever since the latest Firefox upgrade to version 135.0, my Epson 3760 printer pauses between each page when more than one page is requested to print continuously. This pause before each page didn't happen before the upgrade. I now have to go into my printer queue and select each item in the queue to have it resume printing - one at a time. I'm on Windows 11 with an LG laptop.

You haven't provided an off switch for this "thumbnail preview image of the webpage" on my taskbar? I don't want anything dropping down from my task bar on hovering over it.

This is a new thing, that Firefox for some reason thought was a good idea. Mouse hovering on my taskbar, and have a drop down thumbnail preview image of the webpage?

Thank you all in advance...  :)

I've noticed that HDR content on YouTube plays at apparently maximum brightness, which is overwhelming. The same video using Google Chrome behaves as expected. For example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xod2xiLA9CM

I'm running FF v135.0 and Chrome v133.0.6943.54. When using Chrome, the video brightness matches system brightness settings on my Macbook Pro (running Sequoia 15.3) but when I use FF, the video itself is incredibly bright, as if the white levels have been maxed out. It seems to be a problem with handling the HDR content. Even stranger, it's as if the browser is able to increase my screen brightness itself, but only in the video pane. I doubt that's actually happening, but that's what appears to happen. If I switch to another tab and then back to the video, it takes a few seconds for the video pane to increase extreme levels.

Also, I tried to take a screenshot of it but the screenshot doesn't show the extreme bright levels that I see when I'm using the browser.

For the past few weeks Firefox has been crashing and freezing often. Crashes are worst when trying to access Protonmail, which almost always crashes the tab instantly. Freezes happen most often when browsing Reddit, and also when watching Youtube, but crashes and freezes can happen on almost any website.

I have tried changing profiles, refreshing and uninstalling/reinstalling, but the problem persists and seems to be getting worse over time.

Here are some recent crash reports:

There is a similar (but not identical) topic on Mozilla Connect , and I posted there. But I did not get a response. So I am re-posting on this new topic on Mozilla Support. I have a similar problem to what was discussed on Connect. I am using Firefox 133.0.3 on Windows 10 Professional. After Firefox has been running for a while, I get a message from Windows 10 that the free space on my C:drive is low. I did a directory listing on my C-drive before and after Exiting Firefox; I saw no large files disappearing. Then I decided to do "dir c:\ /ah" to see hidden files. What I saw was that pagefile.sys decreased in size from 29,925,748,736 to 16,270,770,176. This was a decrease of 13.7 Gb. Is this normal? I have lots of windows and tabs open in Firefox. Thanks.

Inline JavaScript to hide bookmarks sidebar upon opening new browser instance

Does anybody know which options to use on the command-line start of Firefox such that the only thing displayed is the area within which an HTML page would be presented?

I want to have it start with everything else turned off or hidden, namely

   memu bar
   page tabs bar
   address bar along all add-on buttons
   bookmarks sidebar

The "-kiosk" option is not appropriate for my needs.

-kiosk doesn't hide the sidebar (Bookmarks or not) if that sidebar was visible during last session before exit ... so ... no, "-kiosk" is not a proper implementation of a "page-only" display mode.

"-private-window" gives no benefit, display-wise, over and above what the "-new-window" option provides.

Everything I've read (even on the Mozilla support site) seems to point to creating a special profile for just that mode, and then to modify the "userChrome.css" file with custom properties to ensure the desired "off" setting for the GUI elements. That seems a rather "small-minded" view, ignoring the potential for huge market of self-contained hard-coded applications that would need only use the Firefox rendering engine, and nothing else!

One comment on Reddit indicated that the functionality was there ("-app" option working with XULrunner), but discontinued!

As a test, I did close all my browsers, leaving the bookmark sidebar visible before closing. I then entered:

firefox -kiosk -safe-mode -private-window ${URL}

I still get the bookmark-sidebar visible, with everything else "hidden" or "disabled", because visible sidebar is my default mode for normal browsing.

Is there no command-line startup switch to force that sidebar to "hide", equivalent to clicking on the "X" on the top-right corner?

OR ...

Is there any programmatic way to tell that to hide using JavaScript in the HTML page that is loaded? Everything I seem to locate refer to in-page Elements only, not Browser Elements. :frowning:

But "kiosk"(fullscreen-mode) is not the mode I want, because I want users to be able to have the simplified browser-based HTML App co-exist on the desktop with other windows, like a normal App.

I've tried using this alternative content for the JavaScript file, but that also failed (using '*hideSidebarBookmarks()*' call in the in-line script segment):

``` function hideSidebarBookmarks() { const sidebar = document.getElementById("CustomizableUI.AREA_BOOKMARKS") ; sidebar.hide() ; } ```
