When Firefox displays a **"Your connection is not secure"** warning like this, it means the browser has detected an issue with the website's security certificate or configuration, preventing it from establishing a safely encrypted connection.

      1. What You Should Do Right Now
  • **Do not log in or enter sensitive data:** Never type your passwords, credit card details, or personal identification information into a page that triggers this warning.
  • **Do not bypass the warning blindly:** While browsers sometimes offer an "Advanced" option to proceed anyway, doing so on an official government portal experiencing cryptographic or certificate errors puts your data at high risk.
      1. Why This Happens & How to Check It

1. **Certificate Issues on the Server:** Government portals sometimes experience expired SSL certificates, incomplete security chains, or misconfigured domain names. If the website's security credentials have lapsed on their end, Firefox blocks access to protect you. 2. **Incorrect Device Clock:** Check the date, time, and time zone settings on your computer or phone. If your device's clock is significantly out of sync, Firefox will incorrectly think the website's security certificate has expired or isn't valid yet, triggering a false alarm. 3. **Network Interference:** Public Wi-Fi networks, captive portals, or local third-party antivirus/security software can sometimes intercept traffic and cause certificate mismatch warnings. Try switching to a different network (like your mobile hotspot) to see if the error persists.

      1. Alternative Official Channels

If you are trying to apply for an Indian visa from Bangladesh, the primary and centralized portal managed by the Government of India is:

If the specific subdomain or link you are using continues to throw certificate warnings, it is usually best to wait until the site administrators resolve the server-side security fault rather than risking your personal data.

Firefox spotted a potentially serious security issue with schoolscholarship.cg.nic.in. Someone pretending to be the site could try to steal things like credit card info, passwords, or emails.

schoolscholarship.cg.nic.in has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

To, The Nodal Officer / IT Support Team, Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), National Health Authority (NHA), New Delhi. Subject: Request to update the site certificate for the PMJAY portal in Mozilla Firefox. Respected Sir/Madam, I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a technical issue we are facing while accessing the official PMJAY portal via the Mozilla Firefox browser. At our center, we regularly use Firefox to manage beneficiary registrations, golden card generations, and claim processings on the official website https://pmjay.gov.in. Recently, we have been repeatedly encountering a "Secure Connection Failed" or "Your connection is not secure" certificate error whenever we try to log in. This security alert from the browser is preventing our staff from accessing the portal, which is causing significant delays in delivering healthcare benefits to patients under this scheme. To ensure data security and uninterrupted workflow, it is essential that the site's SSL/TLS certificate is fully compatible and updated for Mozilla Firefox. Therefore, I kindly request your technical team to look into this matter and update the site certificate. Alternatively, please provide the official guidelines or the root certificate file required to install it manually in our browsers. Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter. Yours faithfully, tarish meshram raipur, chhattisgarh official site address:- https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in/

The warning attached shows up frequently. No way to go through it. Going back to whatever screen caused it sometimes allows a second attempt at the link to go to the target. Sometimes, not. This is a new warning -- I haven't encountered before recent Firefox upgrade.

I swapped modems and couldn't get a secure connection -- “Your connection is not secure,” “Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead,” Ultimately I scrubbed Firefox and did a fresh install. Everything was fine until I began putting Old Firefox data (prefs, extensions, etc.) into the new profile. But IDK which file had the bad setting in it so the problem resurfaced.

Again, scrub, rinse and repeat. All is well now but I'm apprehensive. By the way, I didn't get the SSL error messages in r3dfox. But I can't watch videos with r3dfox. So I'd really like to get this straightened out.

I was on www.rt.com yesterday. Today, Firefox tells me I can't get on due to an expired certificate and won't let me bypass this warning. I don't believe this is a problem; I trust rt and I want to be able to bypass what I believe is overly sensitive security by Firefox. Without that, it amounts to censorship and I'm disappointed in Firefox.

Hi; I use Firefox on my phone and my laptop both. In my laptop (Lecoo pro 14, Ubuntu 26.04) in a domain range browser gives me security alarm and don't let me get in. This is normal but when I use other browser in my laptop or Firefox on my phone (s25 ultra) there is no problem at all and it works well! I tried all things. run commands like: sudo snap remove --purge firefox | sudo snap install firefox, sudo apt search firefox/mozilla and than reinstall all installed packages and clear all caches on settings. But none of them worked. Thanks for your responsibility and making such great open-source app.

I am unable to access my usual sites such as @creates or Civil service.Gov.UK or Civil Service Jobs - GOV.UK I am getting this message when I attempt to:

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to atcreates.com. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.

"civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site. The issue is most likely with the web site, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it."

Advance provides: Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue.

Web sites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk because its certificate issuer is unknown, the certificate is self-signed, or the server is not sending the correct intermediate certificates.

This is annying, possibly wrong and, as any false security warning, potentially dangerous. Please help.
