Hello everyone,

I’m wondering what exactly "remote improvements" actually are.

Mozilla says: "Remote improvements range from fixes to feature changes to Firefox. They are delivered remotely between versions and updates to make your browsing experience stabler and richer (...)."

They are not studies or A/B tests, as those are enabled/disabled separately. They also do not concern WebCompat shims, Safe Browsing, or similar features, nor larger security fixes or more significant bugs that are resolved with a out-of-band update – correct? Is it similar to Windows CU Previews - meaning improvements, fixes, and feature changes that would be included in the next upcoming regular update anyway? Not a case of "let’s roll something out and see how users react" thing?

Have I understood that correctly?

Thanks and best regards, Martin

When firefox releases an update I find out when I try to use my browser for something. Im on the fly paying a bill and I want to get it done but oh its firefox update time and I dont have an instant choice stop that. I have first tell my security system that I dont want to make changes to my software at this moment I wanbt to use the browser for something important to Me. But still firefox wont let me. I have to wait till it processes my denial then comes the irritatin popup about download or dismiss and I have to respond to that wasting more critial moments for me then after a few more precious to me moments firfox will open and let me use it. This irritates the hell out of me and the worst part is if I dont waste more of my time performing the update when firefox chooses it will shanghai my browser all over again every time until I update. The worst thing is sometimes updates comie in rapid succession. Major irritation. How do I stop this? whats the work around here? I want to up date when it suits me not when it suit firefox.

I would like to setup Firefox so it checks for updates and installs them during maintenance windows (overnight) and runs the updates as 'system' account.

I tried using the following GPO settings

Application Autoupdate Enabled Background updater Enabled Disable Firefox Studies Enabled Disable Telemetry Enabled Disable Update Disabled Don't Check Default Browser Enabled

This seems to create Schedule tasks in Windows task scheduler, but the tasks are running as previously logged on user accounts. which doesn't help us in this particular environment.

I know we can manually push out the latest version via creating new MCM application pushes but the amount of updates that are coming down is a labor intensive exercise and we don't have the budget for PatchMyPC

Please post any thoughts!

I've been afraid to upgrade T-bird since 102 because last time, it changed the look and feel of my program. Honestly, I had a devil of a time getting panes reconfigured back to looking how I had it. After that, I turned off updating.

If it matters, I've got Classic view enabled (along with folder and message panes).

So to my question, if I update, will everything stay the same. Honestly, if it's going to change again, then I may stick with what's working. A friend is suggesting Betterbird, but I may just bite bullet and go to Gmail.

Does what I am asking make sense? I just don't want the layout to change based on what someone – who isn't me – thinks is better because I 'like' how I have it configured.

Many thanks!
