When I full screen in YouTube, Firefox makes a Fade in animation. Can I disable it and make the default animation works?

Note: I notice that Firefox on Linux doesn't have this feature, I don't know why this feature is only for Windows.

System Information: Surface laptop has Windows 11.

Desired behaviour Please add an option that would make Firefox update only when:

  • a) Firefox is completely closed — no open windows, no active profiles, no running `firefox.exe` processes of any kind.
  • b) A Windows reboot or shutdown has occurred.

Current problem Currently, Firefox sometimes initiates an update while a session is still open — for example, when opening a new profile or seemingly at random. This interrupts active work and forces the update at an inconvenient time, meaning all tabs and workflow are disrupted.

Suggested improvements

  • A good extra option could be modelled on Windows Update, which provides a series of delay settings.
  • The update should wait until all `firefox.exe` processes have ended (currently, opening a new profile can trigger an update even with another profile running).
  • A forced update that disrupts current work feels overly aggressive, especially when the update is not mission-critical. Even if it is critical, the timing should be a user choice.

Alternative approaches

  • A selection could be provided to wait until the user has naturally finished, with all instances closed by choice, or until the computer is restarted after a Windows boot.
  • A popup could appear with options to delay, or a notification saying "Update needed — please close browsers." There is no need to force this.

Workaround difficulty At present, the only way to achieve this is by writing a script. This overly aggressive update behavior could instead be controlled by a simple setting for advanced users. Being overly concerned about security to this level, should be a user choice not force. Turning it off and making it manual is still not as helpful as automation.

Great work, I just noticed this occurring several times in the few months mid session. All good wishes

Good evening. This might be a tough one and not sure if it is even possible. I have had Firefox on my Dell Desktop for about 6 years. Over that time I have made many tweaks via about:config to get it working and looking as great as can be. I did just purchase a new HP desktop and downloaded and synced Firefox. I was also able to set up the new PC next to the old one to make sure each settings menu is exact. But the appearance is off on so many levels. I have no idea how many tweaks I have made over the years but have no idea exactly where to start. I did not know if there was any way on the older PC with those tweaks made to get a log of some sort of what I changed on that Firefox.

Even with the settings menu exact in both versions I cannot figure out what changes I had made. It's not many but enough. I know it is crazy but here is 2 screenshots. The one on the right, the smaller one in general is from the old PC and how I want it to look. I have tried tweaking zoom and text on the new PC and it has been a disaster, hence looking here.

Thanks in advance.

This is in response to an email sent to me today June 27, 2026, with authorization code (111081). I just purchased a new PC desktop in May of this year. The problem I'm having with Firefox web browser is every time I use your browser the statement comes across the top of the page that windows browsers are no longer supporting (windows 10). My computer is a (windows 11), and there are other websites that I go to that are blocking me from using their site because it. Additionally, I am trying to setup a new email system via Proton email, which use VPN's that actually appear that someone else signing in from another location in order to keep their users safer. Also, I'm dealing with Comcast email system which they are in the process of deleting their (@comcast.net) accounts. I spoke the company that I purchased my computer from and they told me that I would need to get in touch with Firefox to get the windows 10 information off your website. I have copied the info for my computer below. I deleted my serial number because I didn't think you needed that. I actually spoke about having windows 11 in my last response to you all. See what your data provided below. Thank you kindly for any help you can provide. V. Firefox recently had an update, and now when I am uploading files, I can't double click to upload selected files. I have to first select the file, and then click the open button.

Before the latest Firefox update, I could simply double click on files to upload. This workflow was much faster.

If I go to about:config, and search for: widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker, I can change the value from 0 to 2, and then I can upload files by double clicking. However, then Firefox forgets my last upload location, and always opens in the home folder.

If I set it back to 0, it remembers my last upload location, but I can't double click to open files.

My current Firefox version is 152.0.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have looked at some of the comments about Firefox automatically opening pdf docs. Myu concern is twofold. Most importantly the password in the doc is somehow being overriden; that is a severe security issuen for me. Destroys the whole concept of security. Makes me very uncomfortable and may discontnue using Forefox after more than 15 years. Secondly this caught me by surprise; it only occurred for the first time this morning. How can i overcome this to prevent Firefox from performing merely as a browser?
