Recently, T'bird has been labelling all emails sent from my account as coming from my wife's account. My bank ignores me because the emails aren't coming from the registered address. I haven't (knowingly) changed any settings, but I'm temporarily using a laptop which has a mind of its own! Any suggestions for a fix?

Group contacts have been established and the group is listed in the Address page. An email is prepared and the group name is inserted in the bcc slot. An x appears to the left of the group name. The Send button is grayed out and the email can't be sent. What is the problem?

I looked on multiple forums but can't find an answer.

I am trying to setup 2 way authentication for the Mozilla extensions account. But i can't get past the "Confirm backup authentication code" part.

I get the error:

"There was a problem confirming your backup authentication code"

Here is the codes that i got (can be public because it's expired and i left 2 of them out):

So i copy just one of them, and i get the error.

  • No im not copying all of them, just one
  • No i don't have spaces in there
  • No there is no capitals or anything in there or caps (im copy pasting).

It's very odd and i can't upload my application.

Please advice. Anyone have some idea?

I think this might be more of a Google issue, but it happens when using Firefox so I'll post it here. As of Jun 25, 2025, I have noticed dark black boxes appearing around my Google search results. I normally use a dark theme in Google, but the color is a muted grey/black. Today, however, dark black boxes have begun appearing around my search result. I really dislike the appearance as it is quite jarring. Interestingly enough, this issue only happens when signed into a Google account. Some Reddit users have reported having the same issue even in other browsers when using Google search. It seems to be something that Google has done on thier end but I was wondering if there was a potential workaround in the meantime.

When I click on NY Times link, I get this message: You have been blocked from The New York Times because we suspect that you're a robot. I'm just an old guy with a low tolerance level for tech glitches. Any help greatly appreciated!

I called NYT Support, which tells me it must be a Firefox issue since I can open in Chrome, Safari. I thought it might because I have the Enhanced Tracking Protection box checked, but unchecking does nothing.

Out of ideas.

Hi Mozilla support Having used MetOffice daily forecasts for many years, 3 days ago it stopped working on my desktop. I still have Windows 7 but always the latest version of Firefox, and everything else works fine in Firefox (including other weather forecast websites thankfully). A page of Met Office headings appears instead of the forecast.

I emailed them yesterday and this is the reply: 'To see the public website in the previously recognised format, you would need to upgrade the browser version you are using or the Operating System of your device. This issue is affecting users on unsupported mobile devices (phones/tablets) as well as those on PCs and Laptops with unsupported software on them. As per our Met Office Website Policy page - which details the level of support we offer and to which browsers – we currently only support the latest two versions of Chrome and Safari; the latest version of Edge and Samsung Internet; finally the latest version of Firefox only being partially supported. This policy has been developed to comply with the World Wise Web Consortium (W3C) AA Accessibility Standards. It also details the Decision Tree of which versions would continue to be supported or no longer supported We appreciate this may be frustrating, but without updating or replacing this unsupported software/hardware you will be unable to view the public weather website in the correct format.'

Since it says 'the latest version of Firefox only being partially supported' I guess there is nothing else I can do to access their forecast (apart from getting new PC and using Windows 11, which I will be doing later this year). Kind regards, Katy

Hallo, ich arbeite gerne mit geöffneter Sidebar und bisher (bis Firefox-Version: 139.0 waren sowohl die Ordner der Sidebar, wie auch die in Ordnern abgelegten Webseiteneinträge immer in weißer Farbe (vor dunklem Hintergrund). Jetzt nach dem Update von Firefox auf Vers.: 140.0 ist der Hintergrund der Sidebar 'dunkelgrau' und die Schrift der Ordner und Webseiteneinträge sind in schwarzer Farbe, sodaß man diese nicht mehr richtig sehen kann; lediglich die Icon's der Webseiteneinträge sind in der entsprechenden Farbe/Logo der Webseite korrekt zu sehen. Liegt das jetzt am Update von Firefox 139.0 auf 140.0 ?? Die Sidebar war bis gestern noch korrekt und lesbar dargestellt !!

I require a copy of Firefox focus for my 87 year old mothers recent purchase of a bergstom android smart phone. My Mum knows absolutely Zero about the internet!! While I am happy for her to be able to browse the web, I am worried about here online safety and an email address increases her chances of signing into a site and imputing sensitive data. Hopefully, over time, if she learns the basic and the risks involved she can further explore the wonders of the internet? Add Security Exception? I can't send any outgoing email messages. I now get a warning alert after hitting Send entitled "Add Security Exception". It says further, "You are about to override how Thunderbird identifies this site." And, "Legitimate banks, stores and other public sites will not ask you to do this." My email provider is Earthlink and the alert identifies the server location as, "smtpauth.earthlink.net:587" and says, "This site attempts to identify itself with invalid information. Unknown Identity. The certificate is not trusted because it hasn't been verified as issued by a trusted authority using a secure signature."

That only available options are, "Confirm Security Exception" and "Cancel". Selection of either option brings up the same next alert, "Send Message Error", "Sending of the message failed. Peer's Certificate issuer isn't recognized. The configuration related to smtpauth.earthlink.net must be corrected."

I didn't intentionally change any settings or receive any notification from Earthlink to that effect, so I don't know why any of these protocols would have changed. I can view the smtpauth.earthlink.net certificate but I don't know how to copy it or attach it for diagnostic purposes. Can anyone provide insight regarding what is going on here and how to resolve it? Any solutions will be greatest appreciated.

I installed the new 140 update, and now when I open the bookmark sidebar, the "Search bookmarks" field is highlighted, and the entire list of bookmarks is darkened to the point that it's pretty much unreadable. This was never the case before. I NEVER use the 'search bookmarks' function. My bookmarks are organized into folders and sorted alphabetically. How can I undo this setting so the sidebar looks like it used to?

Hello all:

Just downloaded version 140 and ran into an immediate "visual/appearance" problem with regard to the background color(s) of the sidebar bookmarks view. Many themes now have totally dark sidebar colors and not readable (see screenshot image upload with this posting). I always have my bookmarks (almost 1200 of them) displayed in my sidebar, and this is the first time an issue like this has arisen with a Firefox update.

To remedy this scenario, I must use very light colored themes that have a white background when you bring up the sidebar bookmarks. If not, everything is totally dark and unreadable.

Any ideas or help on this one?

Today, I signed on to use my laptop, as usual, nothing different about how I sat down or anything, and I try to open Firefox and it flashes something on the screen, but I don't catch it as it immediately closes as well. It looked like a popup with a button, if that helps. I then try to open it again, realizing that I've got that bug, the one that causes browsers to open for a split-second and then close immediately, so I try to fix it how I fixed Opera GX before I stopped using that. Restarting? Nothing. Looking online for answers? Found some! I try starting it in Troubleshoot Mode, I can see down in my taskbar that Firefox is trying to open in Troubleshoot Mode but isn't. Okay, let's try something else, the Profile Manager. I use the Windows+R key to open the Run window and type in firefox.exe -p which according to a couple of websites, -This one included- should have opened the profile manager in a popup, but all I get is a flash of a window and nothing else. Then, I finally try uninstalling and reinstalling the app, upon reinstallation it asks if I want to keep my settings and whatnot, I say yes, problem persists. I uninstall and reinstall again, only this time declining the ability to keep my settings, the problem persists.

I'm extremely confused as to why nothing is working, and I don't want to have to reinstall Windows itself like I saw a comment on Reddit recommend, so if anybody has a slight idea of a solution, I'd be grateful, thank you in advance.

Edit: Just tried downloading and running Chrome, it worked for a second until it randomly closed, I know this isn't the support site for that browser, but I thought I'd mention that the "Not opening, just falshing for a millisecond" isn't just a Firefox thing for me.
