I have different bookmarks that I want to keep on each computer, will sync delete the bookmarks on one computer and overwrite the bookmarks from the other computer in their place
I have not used sync yet, but I have the gut feeling there is going to be a problem if I do. I have different bookmarks that I want to keep on each computer. Will sync delete the bookmarks on one computer and overwrite the bookmarks from the other computer in their place? So I'm guessing it will erase the bookmarks on the second computer that you set up to sync. Is there a way to merge the bookmarks from each computer into one bookmark library that contains all the bookmarks from both computers, so that I don't lose any bookmarks by syncing?
Chosen solution
Just to be clear, this is something that we have commented several times in the forum, Firefox Sync adds whatever is already in the device to the account and pushes that info to the rest of devices.
So if you have 2 computers one with X data and the other one with Y data, once you set up Sync in both computers you will have X+Y on both.
I hope this clarifies the doubts..

to clarify, there are currently different bookmarks on each computer that I would like to sync, but I want to make sure that the bookmarks on each computer can be preserved, and not overwritten by the other computer's bookmarks. I hope there is a way to join/merge the bookmarks from each computer together with each other so that all the bookmarks from each computer are now in one big bookmark library. so that the bookmarks on computer 1 are merged with the bookmarks on computer 2, and they are all on both computers after the sync. Having difficulty disambiguating what I mean but hopefully you guys and gals "get it", thanks for trying :)
In these links you can see What is Firefox Sync? and How to sync Firefox settings between computers
Can i suggest another solution ?
If you want to sync only bookmarks(and not history, passwords, tabs etc) it is more easy to Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file put it in a usb stick, and then put the usb stick to other computer and Importing Bookmarks from an HTML File .
i think you must think about it
thank you

Oh, so you can import more bookmarks into your bookmarks library without deleting/overwriting your current bookmarks? And they then just get lumped into that main bookmarks library?
What part of the menu has the "import" function for pulling from a memory stick? and how do I save many folders full of bookmarks to an html file? Oh nevermind, I see that that is all in the last menu at the top of the bookmarks screen (after clicking "Show All Bookmarks")
Thanks!!!
I have the same question. I set up FF Sync awhile ago, then I cleaned up my Main PC's bookmarks this week. Most of the bookmarks on my laptop are now missing. I'd like to just pitch all the bookmarks on the laptop and start fresh with those on my Main PC. Is there a possibility I might lose all my Main PC bookmarks if FF syncs back from the laptop (now denuded of bookmarks) to the Main PC?
