I noticed that it is also not there in in Windows 7 x64 FF4.0B9 along with the Silverlight plugin not showing up.

However so far both Flash and Silverlight are working just fine in FF4.0B9

Firefox 4.0 does not create a plugins folder.

Just create a folder called plugins in the program folder or even create the plugins folder in /home/usermame/.mozilla/ where all installs of Firefox, SeaMonkey and Thunderbird can make use of the appropriate Plugins that you put in there.

Hello James,

You're spot on ! I was probably half awake when i downloaded the native 64bit flashplayer plugin while my browser ( firefox 4b9 was 32bit !!! ). starting the browser through command line revealed the wrong ELF headers of the plugin!! ) .

Now I downloaded from ftp server firefox b10 x86_64 version. And indeed the browser does not create or has the "plugins" directory, but looks for the plugins in the common known system directories.

Thanks.

Adobe also has a beta preview release of a 64-bit Flash called Flash "Square". http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10_square.html

I found it easier to use the 32 bit version of firefox 4 on Ubuntu for flash support.

You can download it here: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/4.0b11/linux-i686/en-US/)ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/4.0b11/linux-i686/en-US/

It took me a little while to figure this out so hopefully it saves someone else some time.
