leaving firefox to get data from another app, return treated as EXIT in android 16

When I use the browser to open an app and After I enter that app, I need data from another app so I touch the icon at the bottom of the screen that shows me a list of apps, I select an app from that list, open it and get the data from it via a copy, I the go back to the app in Firefox and it takes me back to a different prior screen that requires me to reenter login in info or back to the screen before I exited to get the data i needed. this does not happen in android 15 etc on all my other devices.
