Cannot remove site from synced Multi-Account Container

I have a problem similar to the one detailed in this archived thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1406314

At one point, I accidentally added duckduckgo (default search) to a container and now I simply cannot remove it from the container assignment. What happens is I remove it on my local computer, but if I go to any other computer that syncs Mozilla containers to my account, it seems like it reassigns DDG to the container again..... even if I remove it yet again.

This seems like an endless loop.

Is there any way to definitively remove a site from a container and force it to sync across all browsers/computers? Something seems awry with which change with a container update is kept as the "default" that gets synced across all the sessions.

Thank you.
