Sudden increase in data usage by Firefox on Android Phone

My android phone suddenly started using a lot of data. 9GB in 3 days. Usage data (in settings) shows Firefox accounts for most of it. I have watched maybe 4 movie trailers; no gaming. What is going on? My phone is now in airplane mode and I've got ugly data charges (hate those). Thanks
