Starting is version, tabs are shown as a number in a rounded box rather than actual tabs. How can I use the previous UI?

If you tap the icon that you mention, you will be able to see your open tabs.

We are making some changes to Firefox for Android that makes the browser faster and easier to use - these changes will be rolled out very soon.
